Accountabilities
  • Teach a variety of lessons to either individuals or in groups of up to 18 students
  • Adapt materials to meet the needs of learners
  • Use technology during lessons when appropriate
  • Complete registers and other administration within agreed time frames
  • Support the British Council\'s global English strategy by delivering professional teaching to the highest standards
  • Enhance the British Council\'s reputation as a world authority through continued professional development and sharing of best practices
  • Actively engage in professional development activities
QualificationsEssentials
  • First degree
  • B.Ed in Primary, Secondary or Early Childhood Education
OR
  • Diploma in Education (Singapore MoE)
OR
  • PGCE/PGDE with practical component (QTS)
OR
  • Cambridge CELTA/EFL teaching qualification
Desirables
  • Recognised diploma in EFL/teaching i.e. DELTA
  • PGCE/B.Ed in Primary/Secondary relevant subject
  • CELTYL / TYLEC
Work ExperienceEssentials
  • 2 years teaching experience post entry level qualification
  • 2 years experience teaching Young Learners
Desirables
  • Specialist experience teaching Early Years, Primary and Secondary Young Learners
  • Familiarity with the Singaporean education system
  • Experience of teaching adults
  • Business English experience
  • IELTS preparation experience
  • Experience teaching 1:1 or small groups
Language Requirements
  • High proficiency in English i.e. full mastery of English across all 4 skills equivalent to user (CEFR C2) IELTS Band 8/9 in each of 4 sections of the academic module.
Salary & Benefits
  • Salary: SIN $ 4,890 per month (Pay Point 1) to SIN $ 5,559 per month (Pay Point 5)
  • Duration: 24 months
  • Start date: 2nd Oct 2024
  • Contract type: Fixed-term (Renewable)
  • Work duration: 20 Guaranteed Hours + teachers are required to teach 44 weeks in a calendar year
  • Allowances: The candidate will be entitled to hotel accommodation for 2 weeks and a one-way flight to Singapore.

  • Proof of Identity requirements/right to work in the country: Applicants must be granted the right to work in Singapore which can be subjected to Ministry of Education/Ministry of Manpower approval.
