Role/ Department:

Northern Trust is looking for a Senior or Account Manager within the Global Family office and Private Investment Offices group. As part of the client servicing team dedicated to supporting very wealthy families and their charities and foundations. With over $200mm in investable assets, these families act like institutions but require a personal and high touch approach, as well as the highest level of discretion. Our families wealth is mixed in nature with some being multi-generational inherited wealth and some being new entrepreneurial wealth.

Owns coordination of custody/fiduciary/investment administration for complex Wealth Management clients. Anticipates and identifies client needs and handle inquiry resolution. Serves as main liaison for client service team, working with stakeholders supporting client requirements. Identifies service efficiencies and process improvements.

What you will do

You will be responsible in overseeing and orchestrating service deliveries across multiple practices; services that our clients appoint Northern Trust for. Ensuring client satisfaction in regards to service deliveries through active internal engagement with relevant service deliveries team.

  • Coordinates the account administration for our clients.
  • Receives service requests from clients and partners; executes daily client activity, oversees transaction processing, handles inquiry resolution, obtains appropriate documentation, and ensures systems information is up-to-date.
  • Oversees development of appropriate action plans for client activities and ensures execution and follow-up with internal business/service partners.
  • Coordinates with servicing team on execution of client activity, communicating with client and internal partners or service provider as appropriate.
  • Ensures accurate set up and review of fees. Timely and accurate client invoicing and fees collection.
  • Document services provided, specialized procedures, and ongoing written communications with client as appropriate in managing daily activity.
  • Develops clear understanding of clients\' need behind service requests and communicates to service partners. Obtains appropriate information from partners and client to facilitate service changes or transactions.
  • Assists relationship managers in developing additional business, client presentations, and coordinating with other servicing team.
  • Initiate and plan service review meetings with clients and relationship managers, coordinate with internal servicing teams/stakeholders on the agenda.
  • Identifies service efficiency enhancements, process improvements, and service delivery using creative and proactive measures, reducing the need for manual or customized processes.
  • Monitors trust operations and accounting activities to ensure that all necessary reports, documents, tickets, etc. are processed to facilitate client services.
  • Communicates with clients regularly to inform them of account set-up or status, document requests, or other information.
  • Researches client records, contracts, agreements, etc. to respond to inquiries.
  • Comfortable to engage/have direct contact with committees, client and/or Senior Management.
  • Assist relationship managers in AML/KYC review process
Skills/ Qualifications:

The successful candidate will benefit from having:
  • Extensive experience in Client Service and knowledge of Trust/Family Office and asset servicing operations acquired through proven experience is needed to administer client accounts.
  • Analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills required to identify and resolve account issues.
  • Organizational and time management skills are necessary in order to monitor consistent flow of requests/Inquiries.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are desirable
  • Proactive work ethic, the ability to work independently and willingness to learn
