What we do:

The Trade Desk is seeking an India country specialist at the Senior Manager level based in our Singapore office. Reporting to the APAC Controller, a successful candidate will balance being a trusted business partner with ensuring sound financial decision-making. This Assistant Controller will be expected to roll up their sleeves and be the go-to person for India accounting, compliance, reporting and tax matters. In addition, they will support our accounting operations team in resolving country-specific issues.

What you\'ll do:

  • Manage all aspects associated with group reporting, statutory and tax reporting, local audit and compliance and corporate regulatory requirements for The Trade Desk\'s business operations in India. This role will be sitting with the APAC finance team in Singapore but be focused on servicing India.
  • Establish processes and procedures around preparation of statutory and tax reports required for compliance.
  • Manage third party external service providers that provide statutory accounting, reporting and tax consultancy.
  • Review US GAAP accounting and financial analysis required for the India entity\'s group reporting in accordance with month-end close timetables.
  • Collaborate with accounting operations functions, including credit and collections, accounts payable, payroll and stock admin teams, to provide country-level support.
  • Travel to locations in India to cultivate finance partnership with internal and external stakeholders, customers, and finance service vendors.
  • Operate as a country financial liaison providing early alerts on accounting and finance concerns to appropriate levels of the organization.
  • Work across regional and global teams to proactively manage and address upstream and downstream dependencies in the recurring accounting cycle and related processes.
Who you are:
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in accounting, tax and compliance at a scaled US-listed technology company.
  • Technical knowledge and strong grasp of US GAAP and India GAAP, application of local tax regulations and withholding tax is a must.
  • Bachelor\'s degree in finance/accounting and/or Certified Public Accountant, Chartered Accountant or the equivalent.
  • Action-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills, ready to roll up your sleeves and deliver in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to present information persuasively and effectively through writing, presentations and spreadsheets.
  • Collaborative and proactive with a strong sense of ownership, possessing the ability to prioritize tasks when faced with multiple, diverse, and conflicting demands.
  • Proven experience as a business partner and team leader, with the ability to think strategically, be resourceful and develop creative solutions.
  • Handles problems with confidence and maturity, knowing when to make decisions and when to escalate appropriately.
Preferred:
  • Oracle skills or skilled ERP system user experience preferred.
  • Previous Big 8 audit firm or similar auditing experience is preferred.
Travel:
  • Willing to travel to Gurgaon, Bangalore or Mumbai on a regular basis, including no less than once a quarter, to meet with internal stakeholders, clients and vendors.
