Job Description


The Role Responsibilities

  • The Assistant Director Sustainable Finance Solutions and Governance will have experience in governance across the Bank. They will have a knowledge of Sustainable Finance and ESG regulatory developments, supervisory standards and best practices including SCB\'s standards and processes. They will have a passion for Sustainable Finance and be a self-starter and quick learner.
  • They will ensure that the risk control environment in Sustainable Finance at Standard Chartered is reviewed regularly and all required mitigants are in place.
  • They will be able to relate these risks and mitigants to the wider Sustainable Finance landscape and have a good understanding of Greenwashing risk.
Strategy
  • Support the development and implementation of sustainable finance products, with a particular focus on products and controls.
  • Monitor and test Sustainable Finance controls across CCIB and CPBB. This would encompass our 26 products.
Business
  • Ensuring that all new products, which form a significant part of the Sustainable Finance corporate plan, have robust risk controls built around them
  • Liaising with SF Finance to ensure that all SF revenue is reported. Where an automated reporting fix is WIP, ensure that all interim revenue booked is tracked and accounted for.
Processes
  • Assist Director of Sustainable Finance Governance in ensuring SF adheres to existing operational processes and work to improve or create new operational processes and controls e.g. working closely with Head of Product Solutions on governance for new products
  • Ensure that existing controls are implemented and reviewed regularly
People and Talent
  • Develop a strong working relationship with COO Functions, Finance, GRPA, Compliance, Legal, RSR, Climate Risk and Group Sustainability
Risk Management
  • Ensure that product constructs are robust and that risk controls are adequately implemented
  • Act as internal quality control within SF and ensure dipstick tests are done on pureplay clients and labelled deals
  • Assist in ensuring all material operational risks are identified, assessed, mitigated, monitored and reported to relevant governance forums
  • Assist the Director of Sustainable Finance Governance in identifying areas of operational risk for new products and new business, regulatory and thematic risks, and then being able to ensure implementation of appropriate controls to mitigate these risks
Governance
Assist with project management of key initiatives and coordinating with stakeholders across COO, Product Teams, Risk, Legal and Compliance, Finance, and others
Support the projects related to product roll outs and Sustainable Finance Governance
Develop robust structures to support Sustainable Finance solutions and their respective risk functions
Responsible for assessing the effectiveness of the SF team\'s arrangements to deliver effective governance, oversight and controls and, if necessary, overseeing changes in these areas
Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework, in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.

  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

  • 3+ years of experience in Banking Industry
  • Good knowledge in Banking
  • Experience in Project management
