DESCRIPTION
The School of Social Sciences invites applications for potential part-time Adjunct Instructors to teach in the Global Asia Second Major Programme. We seek to attract a pool of dedicated educators with strong teaching credentials and/or relevant industry experience to deliver core and elective undergraduate courses over a 15-week semester.
The Global Asia (GA) Second Major Programme is an area-focused interdisciplinary second major committed to social science scholarship that studies contemporary Asia within a global context. The programme integrates knowledge from various fields including international relations, sociology, anthropology, political science, and cultural studies.
Designed to accommodate students from diverse degree programmes, GA equips students with the necessary skills to navigate Asia's changing social, economic, and geopolitical terrains. It is ideal for students who want supplement their studies with specialised knowledge about Asia.
A special feature of GA is a compulsory 'Engaging the Field' component where students must complete either a study mission to an Asian country or an intensive independent project on an aspect of Asia's diverse societies. GA also embeds activities enriched with partner organisation collaborations, special internships with international organizations and NGOs, and joint programs/partnership arrangements with leading universities in East and Southeast Asia.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach introductory and/or elective course(s) within the Global Asia Programme, including but not limited to Exploring Asian Identities, Southeast Asia Past and Present and Popular Culture in Asiaamong others
Opportunity to develop elective modules aligned with your area of expertise and Global Asia's needs
Collaborate with the Global Asia Programme Coordinator to advance programme visibility among internal and external stakeholders

QUALIFICATIONS
Enrolled in, near completion of, or awarded a PhD in a relevant discipline. PhD candidates may also be considered, if they have evidence of teaching excellence
Demonstrated experience teaching Asia-related modules in higher education
Proven excellence in teaching and willingness to adopt innovative pedagogical approaches
Candidate should have permission to work in Singapore
