Rolls-Royce Electrical - Singapore (RRE-SG) is developing electrical technologies, products, and solutions to drive the electrification in our businesses. RRE-SG is seeking experienced and enthusiastic domain experts who are willing to join us and lead/contribute this unique technology and product development journey.

As an Advanced/Principal Engineer - Power Conversion Systems in RRE-SG, you will primarily be responsible for delivering multiple world class research and development (R&D) projects with a focus on power electronics-based power system technologies, products and solutions for Rolls-Royce businesses targeting fully or hybrid electric power and propulsion systems. You will have opportunities to support the overall management of R&D programs led by RRE-SG and interact with various Rolls-Royce businesses. You will work on novel engineering concepts and develop strategies to introduce new technologies into the Rolls-Royce portfolio of products and services. Your contributions to the team will include technical expertise, technical leadership, novel ideas generation, design analysis and simulation, fabrication of actual designs, testing and support industrialization.

Key Accountabilities:

Advanced electrical and mechanical system integration modelling and simulation including discrete electrical component, energy management and operation optimization for Rolls-Royce advanced power system.

Design and implement energy and power management systems for various electrical power systems (e.g., Aerospace, Stationary, Transport applications).

Provide technical guidance / leadership into the development of power electronics, non-power electronics and mixed Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) electrical power system technologies and products for Rolls-Royce businesses and drive related component/system level simulation & experimental platform in kW-MW power.

Maintain a good understanding on various aspects of electrical power systems related to Rolls-Royce businesses e.g., power electronics, electrical machines, energy storage systems, power system technologies (design, operation and optimization), reliability, health management, edge computing, renewable energy source and their characteristics, communication, embedded systems (hardware and firmware), plug-n-play operation.

Work towards becoming a subject matter expert (SME) for power electronics based electrical power systems design. As SME you will represent the RRE on electrical power systems design matters in internal initiatives and represent company at appropriate external forums

Qualifications and Experience

BS/MS/PhD degree in Electrical or related engineering discipline. Candidates with significant experience in electrical power system design and implementation are preferred.

Experience in microgrid controller designs including power management algorithms

Experience in commercial electrical power system solutions development i.e., from concept to final product

Drive offline and real-time simulations related power electronics, non-power electronics or mixed Distributed Energy Resource (DER) based electrical power system.

Strong background in mathematical modelling of electrical power components and systems for both static and transient conditions (data driven and physics-based model).
