About the job

You will assist the Regional Head of Compliance in coordinating and implementing compliance initiatives; providing compliance advisory support in Singapore as well as the region where required.

You will support the maintenance of the compliance framework and the relevant controls by keeping abreast of developments in industry regulations and trends to ensure appropriate coverage. You will liaise with stakeholders to communicate the current, new and changing compliance and regulatory matters and how they link to the bank\xe2\x80\x99s context. You will also support the conduct of training and development of communications material, to allow for the practice and maintenance of compliance within the bank.

You will work with the Regional Head of Compliance to set policies and procedures and establish governance relating to financial crime, which includes Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and combating the financing of terrorism, sanction, anti-fraud, bribery and corruption activities.

You will develop, implement and maintain a monitoring and surveillance framework tailored for the branch\'s activities and will identify the relevant compliance regulations across the industry, the organisation and specific business units. You will identify the changes in regulations which may impact the bank\xe2\x80\x99s compliance policies and frameworks and will highlight variances in compliance policies and frameworks for alignment.

You will identify organisational risks to propose compliance controls to manage and mitigate risks and will assist in reviewing, formulating, implementing and updating of compliance policies and procedures where necessary.

You will recommend and implement compliance controls and risk management activities, as well as conduct testing and surveillance activities to identify compliance control deficiencies. You will flag compliance breaches to the Head of Regional Compliance and will recommend/ implement planned response activities.

You will also track the integration of the central compliance policies and frameworks in business units, and review the advertising, marketing of new products and/or public-facing collaterals for regulatory compliance.

You will support and assist the Regional Head of Compliance in managing and leading a small team on compliance matters, and will provide advisory and support to the business lines and the Senior Management. You will oversee and provide support to the Compliance team on transaction filtering matters, transaction monitoring/ surveillance, approval of new client onboarding requests and other AML/KYC related matters.

You will provide oversight support to the region where required and develop and disseminate communication materials to support regulatory change management. You will source for data and assist in drafting reports for regulatory submissions, as well as review the business units\xe2\x80\x99 activities to identify methods to improve regulatory compliance and propose recommendations.

You will issue responses to compliance-related queries and act as point of contact for the compliance function. You will communicate policies and procedures to the business units for implementation in response to compliance breaches or control deficiencies. You will also review and propose improvements to drafts of regulatory reports on compliance created by the business units and provide advisory/ support for other projects and duties as assigned.

You will keep abreast of the latest developments, changes and emerging regulatory and/or industry trends relating to compliance, and will ensure compliance requirements are incorporated into Information Technology (IT) systems used for monitoring, testing and surveillance.

You will conduct research on the possible technology and automation improvements which may be integrated into monitoring, surveillance or testing mechanisms, as well as propose enhancements for parameter calibrations used in the surveillance process. You will conduct user testing for new models of monitoring, testing and surveillance systems

Pre-requisites:

  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree
  • At least 8 years of relevant work experience in corporate or institutional banking
  • Well versed with the local and international compliance and regulatory issues within the financial services industry
  • Self-driven and comfortable working towards deadlines and executing tasks independently
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, resourceful and a strong communicator
  • Ethical in practice and able to execute judgment with integrity
  • Occasional need to be contactable after office hours
