We are looking for a #Senior Staff Engineer, Photonics Device Modeling with following attributes:

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Develop infrared emitter and detector devices based on the III-V material system
Setup specific device models and validate concepts via simulation
Verifying simulation results via device characterization
Support the development of new sensing system concepts with modeling and simulation
Work independently and collaborate with colleagues across the globe to solve challenging technical problems

 WHAT YOU NEED TO HAVE
Ph.D. in Photonics, Engineering Physics, or related scientific/technical area
Three (3) or more years of experience in model development, design and simulation of infrared (especially near- and mid-infrared) lasers and detectors
Knowledge of the relevant material systems, i.e. III-V and silicon, and transport phenomena relevant for infrared devices
Familiarity with the basics of laser and absorption theory and the willingness to deepen knowledge
Demonstrated experience using a common processing language (e.g. MATLAB, Python, Julia) and a photonics simulation environment (e.g. Crosslight, Phoenix, Synopsis, …)
Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work interactively and effectively in a global project setup
