Your role

We are looking for an APAC Sanctions Officer to:

  • be responsible for executing, and improving, the sanctions and embargoes framework of the bank
  • reporting directly to the APAC Regional Head of Sanctions act as a central point of contact in the Sanctions team
  • work closely with the business, Operations and the client on-boarding team to assess and handle escalations of potential sanctions issues
  • research information, performing risk assessments, conduct sanctions controls, drafting analysis reports and reporting back to management
  • co-ordinate sanctions projects in the region
  • provide staff training

Your team

It is a regional team that covers Sanctions for the APAC region IB and WM cross divisionally.

Your expertise

Your expertise :
  • the ideal candidate will have a legal degree or equivalent education
  • around 7 years of experience within a law firm or financial services institution, regulatory body and/or comparable environment
  • candidates with additional experience specific to financial crime and regulations will be highly regarded
  • good working knowledge of banking and securities laws, regulations, directives and regulatory expectations, particularly those related to economic sanctions
  • an ability to identify problems and seek practical solutions
  • skills needed to participate in regional/global projects within the Compliance department
  • excellent communication skills (both written and oral) along with good interviewing skills and the ability to ask the right questions in order to obtain a thorough knowledge of a subject
  • the ability to work effectively with others, be prepared to take a supportive role where required, assist others at short notice and be part of a small close-knit team
