The Global Technology Legal Practice Group provides legal support to the firm's CIO and the technology organization, and to all business units on technology matters. Among other topics, this Practice Group provides primary legal coverage in the areas of Intellectual Property, Cybersecurity, Privacy, Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies, Cloud, Data Management, Technology Transactions, Outsourcing, SaaS and Licensing Agreements, Market Data Agreements, and other emerging technologies including quantum computing and artificial intelligence/machine learning. The Practice Group supports many of the firm's most innovative and cutting edge initiatives, including new products and services, the acquisition of all technology services, research and development, and external partnerships and collaborations. What you will be responsible for: We are currently seeking a Vice President to join the Tech Legal team in Singapore. This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer with experience in technology transactions to support the technology initiatives of the firm's businesses and work at the intersection of tech and finance. The lawyer in this role will, working on their own and with others, handle the structuring, drafting, negotiation and analysis of agreements for the acquisition of global and domestic technology products and services, including but not limited to intellectual property licenses, order management system and SaaS agreements, market data agreements, index license agreements and platform agreements, in addition to the drafting of client-facing technology terms such as connectivity and API terms. They will work closely with colleagues located globally in the Corporate and Investment Bank (CIB) and Asset and Wealth Management (AWM) functions, Sourcing and Third-Party Oversight, CIB and AWM Technology, Technology Controls, and CIB and AWM Legal. Amongst other responsibilities, legal professionals in the Tech Legal Practice Group: . Structure and negotiate agreements and relationships with vendors, partners, and other third parties related to technology, including but not limited to intellectual property licenses, order management system and SaaS agreements, hardware and maintenance agreements, market data agreements, index license agreements, platform agreements, and cloud services contracts. . Advise business and technology stakeholders on legal risk in connection with the development of new products and services, helping to guide innovation across a range of client bases and banking products. . Partner with business, regulatory, and government relations stakeholders to engage, educate, and help guide regulatory and industry policy globally related to privacy, IP, third-party risk management, cybersecurity, crypto-assets, and other innovative technologies. . Support the firm's investments and acquisitions by conducting diligence on technology companies, including with respect to IP, controls, privacy, and technology. . Provide advisory and transactional support to the firm's applied research teams and innovation centers in the technology organization. . Provide advisory support on information security topics, including both data protection and cybersecurity matters, to all lines of business and to the firm's central controls teams. . Build cross-functional teams with business, compliance and strategy partners to solve for novel legal issues presented by the application of new technologies in financial services. What skills and experiences we are looking for: . A bachelors degree in Law or a relevant qualification. . A minimum of 5 years of experience as a practising lawyer in a law firm or corporate law environment with substantial experience drafting and negotiating global technology agreements, e.g. software licensing/support, software as a service, outsourcing, cloud, consulting, professional and other services agreements. . Strong written and verbal communication in both English and Mandarin is required to support our clients in China and wider APAC. . Demonstrated interest in new and emerging technology solutions and applications. . Understanding of the intellectual property issues raised by emerging technologies. . Familiarity with cybersecurity, technology controls, information security, data privacy and protection, and data management. . Familiarity with global regulatory issues relevant to the use of technology in financial services, including cloud, outsourcing and third-party risk management helpful but not required. . Strong analytical, problem-solving and legal research skills. . Strong business judgment and strategic thinking. . Global mindset and cross-border experience . Proven ability to independently identify issues, analyze problems and provide viable solutions. . Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, organizational and negotiation skills. . Ability to communicate and interact effectively with all levels of personnel and management, including senior executives. . Ability to work accurately under pressure, handle deadlines, and manage multiple tasks in a high performance environment. . Ability to follow up on assignments in a timely manner and exercise good business judgment. . Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build consensus across a global matrix organization.
