The Application Engineer (FAE) will have a combination of technical and domain knowledge to help win key projects. As a knowledge expert for our machine vision and Auto ID product lines; the AE will attend end-user and prospective customer calls with the company's sales team and partners. They will also provide applications consulting, project and implementation assistance and prepare proposals. Finally, through their technical talent, execution skills and diligent efforts - the FAE will successfully coordinate demos and pilots for new business opportunities.

Technical Support * Develop Machine Vision and Auto ID solutions for a variety of industrial applications.

• Provide training to industrial partners and certain end users.
• Provide knowledgeable and diligent technical support internally & externally.
• Drive implementation projects with our industrial customers and partners.
• Provide basic HW and SW troubleshooting during investigations and resolutions of problems.
• Develop and review systems solutions, technical bid responses and presentations.
• Work across departments to ensure satisfaction and timely resolution of issues.
• Visit on-site facilities and operations to enable solution integration and issue resolution.
• Draft out requirements specifications for projects within their area of expertise
• Engage external vendors to ensure timely completion of deliverables
• Coordinate with internal customers to define project scope and deliverables
• Develop innovative proof-of-concept or prototypes at an advanced level using Omron products
• Create and organize documentation (e.g. including quotations, design drawings, schedules) through knowledge management system
• Architect testing processes through test plans and reports
• Conduct Technical trainings for internal and external customers
• Acquire new skills and knowledge of topics relevant to industrial automation

Sales Support * Provide technical expertise to support our sales team in winning deals and producing satisfied customers.

• Provide product and project presentations to help win deals and facilitate implementation.
• Provide technical presales support for complex selling situations with variety of industrial customers.
• Work closely with the sales and extended teams to map end-user customer business, partner requirements and provide most optimized technical solutions.
• As a knowledge expert of our customer's requirements - provide Marketing and Sales with insight into our competitors' products, innovations and operations.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical program involving software or electronics
• Proven technical problem solver who understands system architecture, hands-on hardware and software capability with Visual Basic, C#, .NET and custom GUI
• Documented solid understanding of firmware, drivers, OS, Applications and their interaction that can cause system issues
• 3-5 years of relevant work experience, ideally in machine vision and/or auto ID applications
• Proven ability to interpret engineering diagrams and instructions and translate them to the customers
• Demonstrated experience implementing automation systems in an industrial manufacturing environment
• Documented ability to effectively communicate about technical and service issues with commercial clients
• Demonstrated ability to work with customer's engineering and maintenance staff to understand and correct issues within their electrical systems or production areas that negatively influence our product
