Founded in 2014 in the UK, and operating 10 research systems an a feed mill in Wales, the Singapore business was formed in 2020, and we have been running trials for around a year at this site. We are looking for self motivated, ambitious people to take us to the next stage of our development in Asia you will have an excellent aquaculture based track record with a demonstrable flair for aquaculture reserach, have entrepreneurial spirit and be enthusiastic about being involved in growing and innovative business. You will be able to manage a small team, communicate clearly with stakeholders, support the growth of the business while assisting with the day to day running of trials. You will be based at the Marine Aquaculture Centre on St. Johns Island but will report to the group Director in the UK. You will be part of a small team complementing our European activities by offer trials in species such as grouper, barramundi and shrimp. Key duties Design and run aquaculture trials with support from UK research team - usually performance and digestibility studies - planning the work, collecting and analysing data, reporting to the client according to established methods and formats for the Pontus brand, either directly or in a supervisory role. Ensure research systems are running optimally and maintained as necessary, and animals are performing optimally. Assist group Director in managing the budgets and compnay finances - purchasing, invoicing etc. and liaison with accountants and lawyers. Manage staff to work efficiently, effectively and as part of a cohesive and supportive team. Ensure health and safety compliance within the the business at all times, including ensuring relevant insurances are up to date and provide adequate cover. Support with business development activities in country, seeking new leads and supporting pipeline development and contract closure. Close liaison with company in the UK on business development and trial progress, stakeholder feedback, any issues, etc. leading weekly online meetings. Essential skills/education/experience Degree (e.g. B.Sc) in fish biology, aquaculture, or closely related discipline. At least 1 year of full-time experience working in an aquaculture research environment focussing on nutritional research. Experience with working with species such as barramundi, grouper and shrimp or similar species. Experience in advanced fishkeeping and/or aquaculture. Experience in collecting, recording and analysing scientific data. Understanding of water chemistry and its impact on aquatic animals. Understanding of requirements for biosecurity. Strong oral and written communication skills (English). Statistical analysis using SPSS. Understanding of the needs of a small business. Experience with business development and/or stakeholder engagement and/or client liaison.
