Job Description


:Area Southeast Asia (S) & India Subcontinent is responsible for all classification activities in the geographical area, with offices in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. We are seeking an Area Finance Controller to join our Area Leadership Team. The Area Controller will be a crucial member of the Area Leadership Team in the M-P Region and will report directly to the Area Manager. This role is pivotal for the Area, and the selected candidate will be expected to serve as an advisor to the Area Manager on finance and business performance matters. The role also involves collaboration with other Area Finance Managers within the Region and a dotted reporting line to the Regional Finance Manager on relevant topics. Additionally, the Area Controller will have line management responsibility for the Business Support team for the Area.Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Area Manager & Area FIS Manager in organizing and monitoring progress of targets, KPIs & QPIs.
  • Manage period-end closing activities, quarterly forecasts, and annual target-setting processes.
  • Report financial information to the Area Manager, area management team, region, and GSS Finance.
  • Lead and develop the NB project controller and local invoice controllers, establishing best practices for contract review, project setup, invoicing, project control, variation order handling, and collections.
  • Interface with the Maritime Pricing Department to address concerns and identify improvements in work processes.
  • Engage strongly in business and commercial processes, including contract review, pricing, and profitability calculations.
  • Analyze performance covering customer performance, project performance, staff utilization, service, and segment performance.
  • Support the implementation and effective use of tools and processes.
  • Ensure compliance with legislative and corporate requirements.
  • Facilitate workshops and training initiatives.

  • Bachelor\'s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a finance-related position.
  • Experience with Line Management is preferred.
  • Relevant business experience, ideally within the maritime sector.
  • Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Oracle Finance, and PowerBI.
  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in English.
