Asset and Corporate Action Analyst Role summary: Works independently on most assignments and under the direction of more senior associates only on the most complex projects, analyses and tasks. Responsible for processing of corporate action events and asset set up/reviews, and assists with the facilitation of The Capital System investment process. Directly engages the Investment Group, works with Trading and other GIC teams business groups. Primary responsibilities/essential functions:
  • Responsible for identifying and processing standard and more complex corporate action events within Funds or client segregated accounts across various asset classes in a timely manner.
    • With respect to The Capital System, monitors assigned standard and complex events to ensure instructions are provided to appropriate parties prior to deadline. Anticipates and resolves potential processing issues.
    • Sources and researches information about upcoming assigned corporate actions, reviewing the bank notices/prospectuses/CA database on the terms of the event. Investigates and resolves any inconsistency with the notification information or details.
    • Analyzes impact of corporate action events, reaching out to Research Analyst for opinion.
    • Communicates with Investment Group to provide options and request recommendations.
    • Sends instructions on corporate action events, and works with other business units such as Legal, Global Securities Operations Event Management/Accounting (GSO EM), Portfolio Guideline Analysis (PGA) to provide instructions and verify compliance with guidelines, regulatory rules, tax consequences and other restrictions.
    • Coordinates communication of events to Trading, Investment Group and business partners.
    • Works with Global Investment Control (GIC) teams on the processing of corporate action events that require order entry, eligibility criteria, and Action List rating activity.
  • Responsible for processing standard and more complex asset set up and ownership activities across equity and fixed income assets.
    • Independently researches information about new asset set up requests by leveraging information from Bloomberg, term sheets and/or prospectus
    • Conducts asset reviews and administers standard and complex ownership limits within investment systems, and interprets Legal guidance on regulatory limits
    • Supports pre-trade and analytics activity for multiple asset classes, working with Trading and Compliance.
    • Supports the maintenance and audit of asset characteristics, ethical screens and asset limits in asset and compliance systems.
  • Work with other business partners to answer inquiries.
    • Works with GSO on processing questions and procedures.
    • Liaises with custodian banks and issuing companies to support the gathering of information.
    • Prepares responses and analyses to standard ad hoc requests for various parties (e.g. Legal, Compliance and Operational Risk (COR), Senior leaders).
  • Strengthen relationships and trust with the Investment Group and Trading by anticipating needs and offering solutions.
  • Utilizes experience to answer difficult inquiries from the Investment Groups and Trading.
  • Participates in projects and team or department initiatives.
    • Collaborates with management/senior to establish project plan.
    • Identifies and assesses impact, and communicates updates to managers and stakeholders.
  • Actively shares ideas when participating in the development and enhancement of policies, procedures and controls to mitigate risk and improve efficiency.
  • Participates in the training of other associates. May serve as technical resource to team and other departments. Displays a thorough technical knowledge of core applications and systems.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as assigned.
Business & technical skills:
  • Demonstrates ability to be self-driven to understand how and why things work, the financial industry and/or the connections between processes and technology.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of Asset and Corporate Actions functions, and interconnections with other GIC teams policies, procedures and systems and ability to apply them to work assignments.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of the functionalities and operational intersections of Global Investment Control and Capital Group.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of the securities and investment business and Capital’s investment process and ability to apply to work assignments.
  • Demonstrates effective written and oral communication skills with a diverse group of associates, senior business leaders and the Investment Group.
