An exciting Assistant Accountant (12 months) job has just become available at one of the most respected financial institutions based in Singapore. This is a role for an Assistant Accountant who is fluent in this field.

About the Assistant Accountant (12 months) Role:
In this business critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring accounts payable (suppliers and staff expenses) are processed in a timely and accurate manner, reconciling all corporate bank accounts, preparing sales invoices, and assisting with general accounting tasks of the corporate entities. Your day-to-day responsibilities will be managed by the Corporate Accountants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process accounts payable (suppliers, staff expenses and manual payments), including associated ledger entries for approval
  • Manage payment runs (BACS and priority payments)
  • Manage bank reconciliation across all corporate entities (70 or more bank accounts) on a weekly/monthly basis
  • Manage bank account opening processes
  • Prepare distribution notices
  • Raise recharge invoices
  • Raise sales invoices
  • Assist with quarterly VAT and GST returns (UK and Singapore - photocopying invoices)
  • File monthly bank statements for all corporate entities
  • Assist with creating new folders and archiving folders
  • Assist in month-end procedures
  • Provide assistance with annual audit and tax compliance processes
  • Manage various ad hoc tasks
  • Adhere to the FCA\'s conduct rules, understanding that they set basic standards of good personal conduct
  • Ensure accounts payable function operates on time and accurately
  • Ensure staff expense claims are in line with policies
  • Ensure all bank accounts are reconciled in accordance with procedures
  • Ensure all filing is up to date
  • Manage the bank account opening process seeking guidance as required
  • Ensure queries are appropriately responded to and escalated where necessary
To succeed in this Assistant Accountant (12 months) role, you will need to have willingness to learn and develop within an accounting environment and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively is key. Accuracy is vital in this role.

Key Requirements:
  • Degree level education
  • Experience with operating an accounts payable or sales ledger function is beneficial
  • Previous accounting/book keeping/cash management experience
  • Experience with accounting software, Sun Systems is preferred
  • Experience with dealing with high volumes of work and the ability to be organised
  • Understanding of the need for a financial control environment and adherence to procedures
  • Familiarity with the alternative asset classes of private equity and infrastructure is an advantage
  • Must be proficient in Excel and Word
  • Numerate
  • Deadline-focused and reliable
  • Accurate with high attention to detail
  • Able to work calmly and accurately under pressure
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment
  • Able to quickly assimilate new information/requirements
  • Organised and methodical in approach to work, with the ability to prioritise effectively
  • Sound communication skills (written and verbal) with the confidence to deal with the investment team and suppliers
  • Good interpersonal skills
