The Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) Academic Group at the National Institute of Education, prides itself on its diverse and wide-ranging expertise. Consisting of visual arts, music and drama units, VPA has been an integral part of Singapore\'s arts teachers\' education with its provision of pre-service teacher education, professional development and extensive educational research in arts and arts education. VPA is committed to educating our students to be independent, critical and creative thinkers, as well as competent practitioners in the fields of music education. Students and faculty have access to well-equipped studios that support teaching and learning. The academic group also hosts the Centre for Arts Research in Education (CARE) which is an established research hub in the institute that explores issues related to the arts and education.
We invite suitably qualified applicants in Music to apply for Assistant Professor in VPA.
Requirements
Successful candidates must have:
- A PhD or equivalent qualifications in Music and/or its related fields (e.g., ethnomusicology, musicology, music technology, music theory, pop/jazz, music education)
- A proven track record of research, presentations and/or publications.
- Some record of tertiary teaching in related modules, preferably at an institution of good standing, and / or teaching experience in primary / elementary or secondary /high-school levels
- The candidate will be responsible for teaching at the undergraduate, post-graduate and diploma levels as well as in-service courses for teachers.
- In addition, the candidate is expected to carry out supervision of graduate / undergraduate students, teaching practicum and assist in administrative/service work in the AG.
- Experience teaching at pre-primary to tertiary levels will be advantageous
