What the role is:You lead a dynamic team of data scientists to create solutions that will improve MINDEF/SAF\'s decisions and operations. You partner stakeholders to identify high-impact use cases and collaborate with external partners to meet these needs. To this end, you lead your team in conducting data analytics studies, machine learning models, and developing AI products.What you will be working on:As a technical lead, you also contribute to strategic projects that will improve MINDEF/SAF\'s data and AI strategy, management and infrastructure. As a keen data advocate, you keep abreast of the latest developments and actively contribute to the wider Data Science and AI community. As a team lead, you possess strong communication and stakeholder management needed to thrive in this dynamic and varied operating environments. You are also a mentor to the data scientists, entrusted to forge a positive team culture and supportive environment for professional growth. Your challenge lies in applying technical practices to meet business needs and translating technical insights into recommendations to a wide range of audience, from practitioners to senior MINDEF/SAF decision makers.What we are looking for:You must have a tertiary qualification in Data Science, Statistics, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Operation Research or any related discipline. You must be a strong implementer with at least 5 years\' experience of developing and deploying Data Science and AI for use. You should possess strong Data Science and AI know-how and are proficient in at least one programming language (eg, python, R, Matlab, Java). Prior experience in product management, software development and cloud platforms will be advantageous. You should possess good, communication and interpersonal skills, and have prior experience in leading a technical team.
