DESIGNATION : Assistant Director, Disability Support Services, MWKLSWC

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position is for Mrs Wong Kwok Leong Student Wellness Centre (MWKLSWC)
  • Disability Services
    • Develop and recommend processes, service standards and improvements to establish university-wide processes that will foster inclusive practices
    • Assess, recommend and implement disability-related accommodations and learning accessibility for students with disabilities, permanent and temporary
    • Assess institution-wide learning needs and initiate training that will drive awareness and support to expand disability awareness
    • Provide mentorship, consultation and advisory services for internal stakeholders on matters related to support for students with special needs
    • Oversee the student assistant programme, including recruitment, training and service delivery
    • Oversee the student support group, which promotes the inclusion of students with disabilities in the SMU community
    • Manage records with sensitive and confidential information
    • Develop benchmarks to continuously improve disability services and access
    • Explore networking opportunities with local and international institutions of higher learning for exchange of ideas and good practices
  • Clinical Supervision
    • Hold monthly consultations with the Disability Support Team members, provide guidance or training to help members develop skills to be better equipped in providing support to different needs
    • Review cases with the Disability Support Team members and conduct document supervision
  • Counselling Services
    • Provide individual and group counseling and psychotherapy for the university community
    • Provide emergency and crisis intervention services
    • Consult with appropriate internal and external stakeholders to help students with their psychological needs
    • Develop, implement, and evaluate outreach and/or psycho-educational programs that address psychological needs and concerns, personal development, and mental wellness
    • Assist with referrals of students to resources on and off campus
    • Provide services consistent with professional ethical standards and generally accepted standards of practice
  • Centre\xe2\x80\x99s Administration
    • Assist the Head of the Centre in administrative duties, including maintaining the centre\xe2\x80\x99s clinical records/database and preparing reports to stakeholders
  • Others
    • Any other duties as assigned by the Head of centre



QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum Masters in Counselling or equivalent professional counselling qualifications.
  • Minimum 10 years of clinical experience in a diversified environment, preferably with at least 3 years of experience working with clients with special educational needs.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in providing clinical supervision.
  • Preferably a registered counsellor and/or registered clinical supervisor with Singapore Association for Counselling or Association of Psychotherapists and Counsellors Singapore or equivalent.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Possess empathy, patience, and passion for working with youths and young adults in a tertiary educational setting.
  • Possess a mature disposition and outlook toward clients in an empathic yet objective manner.
  • Willingness to adapt to changes and able to work as a team or independently.
  • Committed team player, responsible, reliable and able to work with others to achieve the university goals.
  • Good co-ordination and organisational skills, able to multitask and work independently within tight timelines.
  • Ability and willingness to work beyond office hours and on weekends due to crisis\xe2\x80\x99 needs.
  • Experienced in developing and conducting training and workshops.
  • Experienced in conducting risk assessment (eg suicide, family violence) and safety planning with clients.
