RESPONSIBILITIES
Together with the VP (Impact) and Deputy Director (Impact), work with SOCIs and relevant units to set metrics to systematically measure impact.
In the areas of research impact, guide SOCIs and relevant units to identify areas within SMU that are already achieving or have good potential for impact and collaborate with these stakeholders to develop and document the evidence base of impact.
While SMU has been tracking and communicating its educational impact on students and learners, the AD (Impact Evaluation) will work with the VP (Impact) and Director (Impact) to engage the relevant offices to develop a more holistic approach to systematically track impact beyond students' and learners' immediate employment outcomes.
The AD (Impact Evaluation) will support the VP (Impact) to develop a storehouse of impact evidence via entrepreneurship activities.
Responsible for collecting relevant data and impact case studies to ensure there is proper building of evidence base.
Participate in discussions about other possible thematic areas of impact that are delivered across the university to ensure that the Impact Office is prepared to help the relevant units to develop appropriate metrics and collect relevant data to measure impact, assess and validate the impact and thereafter develop impact stories for publication.
The AD (Impact Evaluation) will work with stakeholders to write impact case studies and work with the AD (Impact Communications) to publish these case studies to position SMU for local and international recognition.
Support and advise faculty and relevant SOCI staff to design evaluations and collect feedback/testimonials to evidence the actual impact associated with their projects or activities.
Support faculty whose promotion and/or contract renewal cases are being submitted to PTAC to ensure the impact of their research is appropriately evidenced. This may also include providing support and guidance to external parties who provide reference letters and impact testimonials for faculty.
Ensuring that impact activities and the resulting impacts are systematically tracked, robustly evidenced, and accurately documented so that they can be reported at regular periods.

QUALIFICATIONS
Masters degree in a related field with at least eight to ten years of relevant work experience; PhD degree an advantage. Key substantive expertise in monitoring and (impact) evaluation and in indicator and evidence development. Work experience in universities desirable.
Confident in dealing with senior faculty, senior administrators and external stakeholders; and demonstrated strong understanding of the workings of a complex university system.
Strong strategic mindset with proven success in problem-solving, multi-tasking, and analytical abilities.
Notable experience in general administration, project management and delivery, stakeholder engagement and relationship building.
Demonstrated experience in distilling academic research outcomes and communicating them to non-academic, professional external stakeholders.
Adept at designing and scoping projects, timelines and deliverables.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, and presentation skills.
Resourceful, independent worker and a team player, with strong collaborative and influencing skills that enables collaboration with a wide range of partners.
