What the role is:The Water and Food Policy Division (WFPD) works closely with PUB, Singapore\'s national water agency, and the Singapore Food Agency to formulate, review and implement a broad range of policies and strategies to ensure the supply of water and safe food for Singapore. In 2015, the Water Resource Institute (WRI) ranked Singapore as one of the most water-stressed countries in the world and predicted Singapore to be one of the eight countries in the world most vulnerable to disruptions in water supply by 2040. Given the lack of land and natural water resources in Singapore, WRI\'s conclusion is not surprising. Yet, we have managed to turn our vulnerability into strength over the years through relentlessly pursing and employing innovative and hard-nosed strategies. You will be involved in the next Chapter of the Singapore Water Story where we continue to enhance water security in the face of climate change and other emerging challenges. What you will be working on:You will be working closely with PUB and other agencies on the following non-exhaustive list of priorities in the coming 1-2 years: \xe2\x80\xa2 Formulating strategies, policies, and programmes, including water price reviews, to build a smart, resilient and sustainable water system and safeguard water security for Singapore. \xe2\x80\xa2 Devising frameworks and measures to enhance water sector performance and financial sustainability, taking reference from domestic and international case studies. \xe2\x80\xa2 Developing and refining policies and initiatives to promote water conservation in both the domestic and non-domestic sectors, via close partnerships with stakeholders such as economic agencies. \xe2\x80\xa2 Safeguarding Singapore\'s imported water source through close inter-agency collaboration and bilateral cooperation in relation to PUB\'s operations in Johor and to implement long-term strategies for enhancing the reliability and quality of water supply.
