Organize workflow by assigning responsibilities and preparing schedule
Able to perform all jobs on the lines and be able to coach others in work, including taking animal samples (blood, swabs) for testing
Lead and develop house workers, creating equipment and system ownership
Ensure all personnel safety, food safety, animal welfare and biosecurity procedures are followed rigorously
Drive continuous improvement
Anticipate problems and make quick decisions under time pressure
Report any problem or deviations from normal observations to the Farm Supervisor/ Farm Manager / Farm Veterinarian immediately
Provide verbal and/or written recommendations to supervisor concerning problems or issues
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
High school education is preferred but not required \xe2\x80\x93 previous experience in layer house operations, farming or grain operations, or general agricultural experience is also preferred.
Able to work with live animals and consider their health and well-being as one of the most important essential functions of the position.
Able to perform basic management position functions such as being able to make quick and rational decisions in dealing with personnel, equipment, and the like, and must be able to direct questions or problems to the relevant supervisor or manager in a timely fashion.
Good communication skills, the ability to work with other people, and be able to motivate other house employees to perform their job functions to the best of their ability.
