Job Description

UWCSEA has a vacancy at its East Campus for an Assistant Head of Aquatics (HOA). The successful incumbent will report to the HOA to help drive the Dragons Team, confidently coach at Senior and National Level with understanding and experience an appreciation of scientific coaching principles.

We are looking for a confident, dynamic person with emerging leadership skills who is able to collaborate and willing to work closely with the HOA to develop the programme as a whole.

Main Responsibilities

Lead the National squad program. Work with the HOA to develop, monitor and evaluate the major periodisation phases for the whole team including developing the annual competition plan; With the HOA and the College Movement specialist develop, plan, implement and monitor a progressive dryland program from across the whole program; Directly influence and plan the development of the junior programmes in conjunction with the HOA, including coaching a development group if required. Manage all aspects of the programme in the absence of the HOA;

Work with the external Lifeguard Company to establish the day-to-day lifeguard requirements of the program. Monitor and check lifeguard hours and invoices. Evaluate lifeguard service provision.

Develop and implement the Team's social media strategy and update website content as required.

Develop, plan, implement and monitor the PE support Timetable in consultation with the Head of PE. Including planning workload for team members to ensure balanced work schedules and workload

Work with the IT department to develop, implement and monitor Jotforms for the payment of meet entry fees; Lead the meet entry process for the team using Hytek Team Manager and Meet Manager. Attend and coach at meets in which the Swim Team is competing. Take a leading role in the organisation and implementation of swim meets (hosted) and away trips. Including Arrange necessary parent volunteers and High School volunteers and provide direction and guidance to their supporting role, Respond to and follow up on any parent enquiries by email and telephone.

Responsible to manage and ensure the pool area is safe, secure and presentable at all times, oversee and coordinate set up for swim classes, monitoring equipment maintenance, storage and pool facility upkeep and maintain necessary administrative log records; To promote and safeguard the welfare by forming appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children and young people.

Confident in driving forward a collegiate-style team spirit and attend foreign trips and lead trips for squads

Person Specifications

Minimum Bachelor's Degree in related field with at least 2 years of relevant experience in a similar capacity

Preferably ASCA Level 3 (USA) Coach or the former ASA/UKCC Level 3 certified or International equivalent and Certified First Aider

At least 2 years of relevant experience in a similar capacity

Confident working on Team Manager and Meet Manager softwares

Comfortable using social media, responsibly, as a tool to promote learning

Able to work and communicate effectively with children of different age groups, parents and staffs via all means, including regular public speaking and have a good understanding of the International School environment.

Able to multitask, work independently and be excellent team play with good interpersonal skills

To be comfortable to Coach / teach for at least 1 week at the start and end of each school holiday break and during the summer programme
