What the role is:The Heritage Conservation Centre (HCC), an institution under the National Heritage Board, plays a leading role in heritage conservation in Singapore. It is also the repository and conservation facility for the management and preservation of Singapore\'s National Collection (NC).The Collections Management Department in HCC carries out HCC\'s mission of caring for and facilitating access to the NC through supporting collecting institutions in exhibitions and research and the practice of preventive conservation.In this role, you will be part of a dynamic and driven team that is passionate about art and heritage preservation. You will also have the opportunity to gain and accumulate varied specialised knowledge and experiences in collections care and management that are essential for the role.If you think this is your cup of tea, we want to hear from you!Responsibilities

  • Perform collection accessioning duties (e.g. condition checking, information recording and visual documentation) and overseeing future management of the collection (long term preservation, storage)
  • Establish, review and perform improvements on existing processes and management
  • Support museum exhibition, rotation and loan projects through activities such as receiving new acquisitions, managing artefact lists, facilitating access to storage, retrieving artefacts for conservation, packing and coordination
  • Manage storage repositories and maintain accountability of the collection in accordance to established policies, SOPs, guidelines, and preventive conservation/housekeeping practices
  • Perform annual stocktake and assist with audits
  • Ensure collections data are accurately maintained in the collections database and artefact movements are accurately captured and updated
  • Supervise art-handlers and external contractors
  • Any other ad-hoc duties and projects assigned
Requirements
  • At least 1 year working experience with background in collections management work, such as museum studies, preventive conservation, information science, business/arts management, or a combination of related training and experience.
  • Competent and comfortable working on tech programs/app, systems, process flows, performing documentations
  • Ability/potential to lead a project team, problem solve with good analytic skills
  • Meticulous, organised, independent
  • Willing to learn and able to multi-task and handle multiple concurrent projects
  • Possess good time management skills, positive attitude and good teamwork, communication and writing skills
  • Competent in MS Office and able to quickly pick up computer skills and knowledge
  • Keen interest in heritage and culture
