What the role is:What the role is
The Heritage Conservation Centre (HCC), an institution under the National Heritage Board, plays a leading role in heritage conservation in Singapore. It is also the repository and conservation facility for the management and preservation of Singapore\'s National Collection (NC).The Collections Management Department in HCC carries out HCC\'s mission of caring for and facilitating access to the NC through supporting collecting institutions in exhibitions and research, and the practice of preventive conservation.In this role, you will be part of a dynamic and driven team that is passionate about art and heritage preservation. You will also have the opportunity to gain and accumulate varied specialised knowledge and experiences in collections care and management .If you think this is your cup of tea, we want to hear from you!What you will be working onProject-manage museum exhibitions and loan requests by liaising with museums and stakeholders on project timelines, facilitating access to artefacts for conservation treatment, exhibition display and freight packing.Manage storage repositories, introduce and implement preventive conservation measures to prolong the longevity of the National Collection.Receive new acquisitions and perform collection accessioning duties (e.g. condition checking, information recording and visual documentation)Maintain accountability of the collection, including performing stocktake and assisting with audits with internal/external auditors.Ensure that collections data is accurately maintained in the collections database and artefact movements are accurately captured and updated.Participate in the time-based media workgroup to have a say in improving processes and policies to further the care of the collection.Any other ad-hoc duties and projects assignedWhat we are looking forAt least 1 year working experience with a background in collections management work (familiarity with managing contemporary artworks and time-based media is preferred).Related training and experience in fields such as museum studies, preventive conservation in the museum sector, information science, or business/arts management is preferred.Keen interest in heritage and culture.A dynamic team player. Willing to take the lead in a project team and multi-task on projects.Possess a positive attitude, and take initiative to improve project issues or work processes.Good organization and time management skills, and able to work independently.Good English language proficiency level for report writing and giving presentations .Competent in MS Office applications such as Word, Excel and Powerpoint.Comfortable working witht technical systems, programmes and applications to facilitate collections management work*All applicants will be notified whether they are shortlisted within 4 weeks of the closing date of this job posting.About National Heritage Board:The National Heritage Board (NHB) champions the development of a vibrant cultural and heritage sector in Singapore.
