The Assistant Manager (Shipbuilding & Repair) supports the overall planning, coordination, and supervision of shipbuilding, ship repair, and conversion projects. The role involves assisting the operations manager and project teams to ensure all works are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with international maritime standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in managing daily ship repair, maintenance, and conversion activities.
Coordinate with clients, vendors, and contractors to ensure smooth project execution.
Prepare and review project schedules, work progress, and resource allocation.
Supervise site operations to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
Support the preparation of quotations, budgets, and cost control reports.
Monitor material usage, manpower deployment, and progress against project timelines.
Conduct regular inspections and technical evaluations of vessels under repair or conversion.
Prepare and maintain technical documentation, reports, and records.
Liaise with classification societies and regulatory authorities when required.
Assist in identifying and implementing process improvements for operational efficiency.
Requirements:
Diploma or Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
3-5 years of experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, or offshore engineering projects.
Good knowledge of ship systems, machinery, and structural components.
Familiarity with international maritime standards and safety regulations.
Strong project coordination, leadership, and communication skills.
Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
