What the role is:The Waste Management Division (WMD) is responsible for the regulation of the waste management industry and implementation of key initiatives under the Zero Waste Master Plan, to achieve an efficient and sustainable waste-to-resource management system in Singapore.The Waste Collection Department (WCD) under WMD administers the Public Waste Collection scheme, regulates General Waste Collectors, implements Pneumatic Waste Conveyance System and Code of Practice requirements, and carries out enforcements against breaches of legislative and licensing provisions, to ensure that waste is properly collected for disposal or recycling.What you will be working on:Join us in our mission to create a cleaner, greener Singapore. We are seeking motivated individuals keen in taking up enforcement against illegal dumping of waste. Your scope of work will include but not be limited to:Attend to public feedback and enquiry on illegal dumping of wasteConduct routine surveillances and site inspections at areas prone to illegal dumping activitiesInterview and record statements of offenders and witnessesGather evidence, investigate offences under the Environmental Public Health Act and recommend enforcement actions against offendersLiaise with other enforcement agencies to coordinate joint inspectionsAnalyse collected illegal dumping data and make recommendations for predictive surveillanceAssist with other ad-hoc work, projects and events as assignedWhat we are looking for:Degree in Environmental Science/Law and Management/Legal StudiesMinimum 2-3 years of experience in enforcement and investigative workProficient in investigation techniques, interviewing skills, recording of statements, and putting up enforcement reportsProficient in using Microsoft Office to deliver work submissionsStrong observation and organisational skillsMeticulous, detail-oriented, and analyticalStrong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, ability to communicate in Mandarin would be an advantage.Enjoy performing outdoor field workWilling to work outside normal office hours when requiredPossess a valid Class 3 driving licence and willing to drive the company vehicle during course of workAs part of the shortlisting process for this role, you may be required to complete a medical declaration and/or undergo further assessment.Applicants will be updated on the status of their applications within 4 weeks of the closing date of this job posting.About National Environment Agency:The National Environment Agency (NEA) is the leading public organisation responsible for ensuring a clean and sustainable environment for Singapore.
