Job Description

A hands-on and proactive team player who helps to manage and oversee the University\'s tax compliance, provide tax advisory to internal stakeholders; and to support projects and adhoc duties, as required from time to time. To drive process improvement and strengthen controls within the team.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Ensure proper accounting of taxes for tax compliance (Mainly GST and withholding tax but also includes other taxes such as direct and indirect international tax, and stamp duties, etc)
• Analyse and check accuracy of tax reporting, including periodic review of GL balances and reconciliations
• In charge of preparation and prompt filing of tax returns
• Handle tax queries from internal stakeholders and IRAS
• Work closely with other units and departments to obtain information for tax assessments
• Check IRAS\' property tax assessments and perform property tax allocation to departments and review IRAS\' property tax assessments
• Review and update tax guides/ policies for use by internal stakeholders
• Review agreements, transactions and accounting entries to advise on tax implications
• Liaise with tax authorities on tax issues/ clarifications
• Provide tax advice and training to internal users on GST, withholding tax and other tax matters
• Drive process improvements/ automation within the tax team to drive greater efficiencies
• Ad-hoc projects and duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Must possess at least a Bachelor\'s Degree in Accounting or professional qualifications recognized by ISCA
• At least 4 years of working experience in GST, withholding tax, property tax and/ or corporate tax preferred
• Familiar with SAP S4 HANA preferred
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office especially Excel
• Experience and knowledge of automation of tax processes is an added advantage
• Possess good analytical, writing, organizational and communication skills
• Good team player and able to work independently in a team
• Process improvement mindset with a can-do attitude
• Possess maturity and effective interpersonal skills in dealing with both internal and external stakeholders
• Willingness to learn and take on challenging tasks
