CONTEXT
Develop a forward-looking & aligned, group-wide distribution strategy across all FWD business units;
Evaluate the distribution financial and strategic objectives for all countries and analyze the local business performance, risk and competitive environment
Independently management engagements with GO \xe2\x80\x93 C level, GO Finance & Actuarial and Local C level
PURPOSE
Drive the overall strategic initiatives of Distribution across all business units and in order to ensure current and long-term profitability and growth.
Leading discussions across FWD businesses to ensure alignment with the Company\xe2\x80\x99s\xe2\x80\x99 overarching Vision and multi-channel strategy (HYBRID) and support distribution channel heads and marketing teams to set achieve their respective KPIs.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Supporting MD of EM (Vietnam, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia)
Manage the strategic deliverables and oversee the performance of the CFO functions within designated Emerging markets of FWD.
Building and managing performance benchmark dashboard covering financials metrics, challenges and areas for improvement to provide updates to the MD for the designated EMs.
Manage parallel review and assessment of relevant deliverables while working collaboratively with Group and local stakeholders such as such as Finance, capital management and EV teams, Brand & Marketing, Pricing and Product development, etc.
Stay abreast of relevant financial and corporate governance developments
Engage BUs to ensure that appropriate financial controls are in place including strong focus on balance sheet control, appropriate capitalization policy and expense management.
Lead the discussions around financial matters to unravel additional insights to gain deeper understanding of our business. Drive discussions independently with stakeholders around remedial actions to address pain points.
Present periodic executive management and board updates, analyses, and/or data visualizations that answer the problem within designated markets.
Being Emerging Markets contact point and responsible person to review and provide guidance and advice for any new opportunity / entity set up and M&A and /or Project Lead for Distribution Involvement in emerging markets new entity set up and new business opportunities.
Play a key role in quarterly discussions for EM (Vietnam, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia)
Driving discussions around annual planning exercise and periodic forecasts, quarterly updates while working closely with local CEO, department heads and regional finance.
Participate in quarterly financial dialogues with BUs and local Management Committee meetings on relevant matters.
Leading the directional discussions with local CFO and CEO in the development of major initiatives and business strategy, including the review of cross functional business plans.
Distribution governance across FWD markets (Banca, Partnership and Agency)
Formulate and set up procedures around compensation design and processes. Simultaneously carry out the review of compensation changes, various sales incentives and campaigns across different channels. And facilitate approvals as per delegated authority framework.
Ensure rigorous review of industry hire proposals before recommending to GCDTO or MD to approve and engage channels for periodic performance.
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
Degree holder with professional actuarial qualifications such as ASA, FSA, FIA or equivalent.
Minimum 10 to 12 years of relevant working experience in insurance industry.
KNOWLEDGE & TECHNICAL SKILLS
Solid actuarial knowledge and experience in valuation, financial reporting, product and pricing.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to work with complex financial issues and concepts in matrix organisation structure across different geographies
Attention to detail and strong business partnering, interpersonal and stakeholder management, with demonstrable experience of negotiating and influencing across a wide range of stakeholders.
Ability to clearly communicate ideas, concepts and results to both technical and non-technical audiences whether written and oral.
Always demonstrate initiatives and commitment, able to work independently and demonstrated ability to meet touch timelines.
Able to manage multiple and conflicting requests from various parties.
Effective command of English, and preferably other languages relevant to markets FWD operates in.
Able to work in an evolving and dynamic environment and resilient to pressure.
