Assistant Professor / Associate Professor / Full Professor in Fungal or Plant Biology
The School of Biological Sciences (SBS) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore invites candidates to apply for a tenure track position at the level of Assistant, Associate or tenured Full Professor in Fungal or Plant Biology. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse and accomplished team of faculty members from the Science and Engineering Schools on the NTU campus, access cutting-edge facilities and resources, and contribute to shaping the future of biological sciences.
The current faculty members within SBS are actively involved in diverse research areas spanning molecular, cellular, and organism levels. Our institution is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure, featuring cutting-edge research tools such as light microscopes tailored for live microscopy and CorrSight, a correlative light and electron microscope. The Titan Krios Cryo-EM, complete with a Falcon4i detector, facilitates high-resolution imaging. Moreover, SBS hosts comprehensive biophysics facilities, including BiaCoreTM and ITC platforms, a diverse array of mass spectrometers dedicated to proteomics research, and a contemporary high-speed GPU cluster for computational endeavors.
Collaborative endeavors extend beyond the school, with many SBS faculty closely working with researchers from the Singapore Centre for Environmental Life Sciences Engineering (SCELSE) and the Asian School of the Environment (ASE). This collaboration leverages specialized equipment for high-throughput metabolomics, characterization of microbial biofilm, host-microbiome interaction, and microbial ecology. Requirements
We are seeking a highly motivated individual ready to lead a dynamic research team and address fundamental biological problems. The successful candidate is expected to establish his/her research group at SBS/NTU, focusing on topics that may include, but are not limited to, functional fungal/plant genomics, emerging fungal diseases, fungal pathogenesis, host-pathogen interactions, antifungal drug resistance, secondary metabolism, plant genome editing and synthetic biology (e.g., reprogramming plants for novel traits or improved plant performance).
Competitive applicants for the Assistant Professor position should have a strong record of research productivity and a well-developed research plan. The ideal candidate for the Associate or Full Professor position will have a track record of securing and overseeing extramurally funded grants, producing impactful research results, and engaging in innovative, collaborative research pursuits.
In addition to developing internationally recognized research, teaching excellence is also expected of the successful candidate. The candidate is expected to teach both general and advanced undergraduate courses, as well as graduate courses in biology.
Qualifications
The candidate should have a relevant PhD, preferably in Biology, with postdoctoral or other professional experiences in related research fields.
