Job Description




The Office of University Communications (UCO) works to enhance the reputation of the National University of Singapore (NUS) by raising awareness and understanding of the University\'s vision, mission, values, and achievements in education, research and entrepreneurship. We work primarily in the areas of news, marketing and brand, engagement, and crisis communications. Clients include, and are not limited to, academic, research and administrative units.

We welcome applications from experienced communications and PR professionals to join UCO\'s News Office team, working closely with colleagues in the department as well as external offices, to enhance the reputation and profile of NUS\' Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) cluster.

Duties & Responsibilities

The ideal candidate should have a flair for writing and content creation, have a good track record in media relations, and be a self-starter who can thrive in a collaborative environment. The candidate needs to be confident in interacting with stakeholders at all levels, and possess strong project management and organisational skills along with the ability to prioritise and multi-task.

The candidate will:

Develop and implement strategies to publicise educational and research achievements and announcements in the area of the Humanities and Social Sciences, among other areas of interest

Identify, develop and produce news content for various digital and social media platforms, including NUS News, the University\'s online news portal

Cultivate relationships with and manage queries from local and international media

Be involved in other university-wide events from time to time with the aim of achieving good visibility for NUS through positive and inspiring content

Qualifications

A good university degree in mass communication, marketing or related disciplines

A minimum of 5 years experience in public relations, media relations, corporate communications, or related areas

Effectively bilingual in English and Mandarin (for Chinese-language communications work), with an excellent command of the English language

Strong news editing and writing skills

Experience in media relations with strong media contacts preferred

Familiarity with social media platforms with an interest in video production and photography will be an advantage
