The Asian Languages and Cultures (ALC) at the National Institute of Education in Singapore comprises the Chinese, Malay, and Tamil Divisions. ALC\'s vision is to work towards the mission of NIE and establish ALC as a Centre of Excellence for Chinese, Malay and Tamil Languages, Literature, Culture and Education. We aim to nurture excellent teacher-researchers devoted to the development and promotion of mother tongue language education, Asian values and cultures as pillars of Singapore\'s national identity and harmony. Mother tongue language teachers who enrol in our programmes can expect to receive a firm academic foundation with current knowledge in education research. ALC\'s research places emphasis on high-impact interdisciplinary content, pedagogical innovation, challenging existing theories and extending the prevalent boundary of Asian studies. ALC invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for a faculty position in its Chinese language and culture division. The Chinese division of ALC provides training for Chinese language teachers through both pre-service and professional development programmes in Singapore. Requirements
Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in Applied Linguistics, with a strong interest in second language acquisition, curriculum development, and the pedagogy of teaching listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills both as a mother tongue and as a second language to children and adolescents * Extensive experience and expertise in research in the above fields
