The Role Responsibilities

Background

The Brand Team at Standard Chartered is responsible for the development and management of the company\xe2\x80\x99s brand globally touching almost 90,000 employees across 59 markets. In 2022 the brand was valued at USD 8 billion (Brand Finance). The team also leads the activation of the brand through marketing activities in collaboration with the regions, markets, and businesses.

Overview

The Associate Director, Brand Management acts as the custodian of the Standard Chartered corporate brand.

Strategy

  • Support Head Brand Management with the development and implementation of an active brand management approach, driving brand recognition and value of the Standard Chartered brand through the creation of distinct brand assets.
  • Close collaboration of the CABM Insights team to analyse and interpret brand tracking and brand equity results and plan global brand activities and interventions to drive brand value across the bank.
  • Identify and articulate further areas of brand development to keep the brand future proofed and relevant in a rapidly changing environment.
Business
  • Act as the custodian of the Standard Chartered Masterbrand through the ownership of brand guidelines, templates and subject matter expertise on the application
  • Advice colleagues and agencies across the bank on the application of the brand identity covering visual design, verbal brand voice, sonic and brand experience
  • Review and approve use of the brand identity on applications
  • Represent the brand team in key decision-making forums for brand experience such as corporate office and branch design forums, app and website forums, internal brand and employer brand
  • Advice the Group Sponsorship team on the application of the brand identity guidelines

  • Support the upholding of brand management standards
People & Talent
  • Lead by example and build the appropriate culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations and work in collaboration with risk and control partners.
Risk Management
  • Work with the CABM COO to ensure the risk and control environment is well managed.
  • Ensure Global Head is briefed on key risk and governance issues.

\xc2\xb7 Maintain awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the Group operates, as well as the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role

Our Ideal Candidate
  • 6+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in brand management and strategy
  • Strong understanding of brand management strategies and practices
  • Commercial and pragmatic approach with budget management experience is a must.
  • International experience from emerging markets in Asia, Africa and the Middle East is preferred
  • Experience from brand strategy or advertising strategy is advantageous.
  • Ability to foster positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders at appropriate level, ensuring open and cooperative environment.
  • Ability to effectively prioritise multiple tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Experience of agile delivery methodologies is advantageous
  • Creativity and ability to think \xe2\x80\x98outside the box\xe2\x80\x99.
  • Open minded and curious with a passion for emerging trends and technologies shaping the future of brand building.
