Job Description

This role is for an experienced Security Professional to join our Global Security Asia team. You will join an established team in a key role executing the Global Security strategic objectives across Asia.

As an established global security professional, you are responsible for executing the Global Security strategic objectives through adherence to related standards, protocols, and processes. You will establish internal and external networks with Macquarie stakeholders, law enforcement, peers, and service providers in the region. Successful execution requires collaboration with Technology, HR, Legal, Risk Management Group and business services, as well as business leaders. In addition, you will be required to lead and ensure effective implementation of executive protection and information security in the region.

You will assist the Regional Security Director by providing security leadership expertise, direction, and support as well as risk identification, analysis, and mitigation across the organisation. You will fully integrate and work as part of the Global Security team, working collaboratively with peers and colleagues to achieve organisational goals and solicit input by genuinely valuing the ideas and expertise of the team.

You will be a forward-thinking, proactive leader committed to affording Macquarie people and operations a secure, resilient working environment that is necessary for the successful conduct of Macquarie's business globally, concurrently will also focus and demonstrate ownership of the Asia region.

Primary roles and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Demonstrate leadership and management on security related issues and incidents throughout the region, collaborating with key stakeholders on implementation of security standards and policy.
  • Further the digital transformation of the security and intelligence programs support to all other departments with security intelligence and related issues.
  • Maintain and improve mechanisms for security intelligence, including risk assessment and disseminate feedback to the appropriate internal entities
  • Assist in the development and preparation of the organisation's security intelligence strategy and general security planning
  • Regularly liaise with law enforcement and external agencies.
  • Review and update regional travel advisories and city security briefs. Provide accurate and pragmatic advice for country risk ratings and offer advice and guidance to travellers as necessary.
  • Continuously monitor the region and identify areas of risk or potential risk; social or political unrest highlighting key issues that could negatively impact the businesses and/or travellers.
  • Be a subject matter expert on threat and crisis management leadership.
  • Conduct physical security audits and inspections on corporate offices or assets maintain accurate records of security risk assessment, interaction, complaints, and resolution.
  • Ensure successful execution of operational security, i.e., building security.
  • Highly experienced in managing or leading 3rd party security services (consultancy, technology services, CCTV, access control systems, biometrics, manned guarding etc) provisions and partnerships.
  • Experienced in managing contract tender, selection, and mobilisation
  • Assist in the development of security related training material and development plans for security and fraud awareness as well as other specialised training areas.
  • Identify and test technologies that will improve business process and/or offer efficiency or risk reduction.
  • Contribute to the ROI and metrics program as they relate to our divisional strategic objectives and ultimate value proposition.
  • Lead and support cyber forensic investigations as they pertain to information security events, people threats and fraud. Experience in agile concepts, tools, and methodology to deliver projects a plus.
  • Ability to effectively communicate security & privacy strategy plans, protocols, and negotiate options at business unit levels.

  • Have at least 10 years risk management experience.
  • Excellent communication and personal leadership skills with the ability to work as part of a team or to work independent in the position with minimum guidance.
  • Strategic and tactical knowledge of cyber risk management.
  • Able to recognize and adapt to change before it occurs with new processes for improvement.
  • Strategic thinker with firm understanding of the balance between business, security, and safety; ability to lead change.
  • Leadership skills necessary to command the action and confidence of others during fast breaking crisis situations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to communicate complex issues clearly and concisely; ability to prepare and deliver high level presentations and briefings, for both internal and external audiences.
  • Innovative thinking, taking initiative and comfort with ambiguity are key attributes.
  • Able to multitask by carrying a diverse and complex workload.
  • The applicant must have demonstrated international experience in various security disciplines and must have operated in multiple international jurisdictions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Able to demonstrate advocacy and negotiation skills, to influence stakeholders and adapt messages to all levels within Macquarie.
  • Contribute and develop a diverse team, develop loyalty, stability and operational excellence and cadence within a matrixed structure.
  • Experienced in developing and embedding effective Security strategies in a multi-channel commercial business.
  • Experienced in developing Security Policy, procedure, and training programs, and embedding effective security cultures in large organisations.
  • Highly engaging with the ability to influence and inspire change.
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders, and an engage people at every level of our business.
  • Understanding of Security scenarios and regulatory environment internationally.
