Job Summary This role is primarily responsible for leading the market risk oversight activities such as ongoing monitoring and producing market risk analysis taken by linear and non-linear trading desks, which can include, but is not limited to, Fixed Incomes Currencies and Commodities (including FX Options), Global Equities Structured Products, Treasury Services and Central Funding.What is the opportunity?The Market & Counterparty Credit Risk team operates as a 2nd line of defence, is responsible for monitoring, analysing, and reporting on market risk, counterparty credit and liquidity risk exposure stemming from business activities in Asia-Pacific.This role, Associate Director, is primarily responsible for leading the market risk oversight activities such as ongoing monitoring and producing market risk analysis taken by linear and non-linear trading desks, which can include, but is not limited to, Fixed Incomes Currencies and Commodities (including FX Options), Global Equities Structured Products, Treasury Services and Central Funding.The individual will also be responsible for managing ad-hoc medium-term projects to hard deadlines and collaborating with other stakeholders, with support from Head of Market & Counterparty Credit Risk, APAC where required.What will you do?

  • Provide effective oversight of market risk exposures, including continuous monitoring of risk limits and timely identification of potential breaches for further investigation, documentation, and resolution.
  • Support and contribute to key projects related to Market & Counterparty Credit Risk team in APAC, aligning these projects with the bank\xe2\x80\x99s overall risk management strategy, and driving successful execution and delivery.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of risk sensitivities generated by trading activities, with particular focus on key drivers contributing to profit and loss, and ensure these insights are communicated effectively, including to senior stakeholders.
  • Lead monthly risk reviews with trading desks to assess trade positioning and risk profiles, offering constructive challenges and guidance to ensure alignment with risk limits and strategic objectives.
  • Facilitate risk communication by collaborating with relevant teams to ensure clear communication of risk exposures and make well-informed recommendations to senior management, including the Head of Market & Counterparty Credit Risk APAC.
  • Identify and drive improvements in risk monitoring and control frameworks, ensuring that monitoring tools and practices are both effective and efficient.
  • Provide mentorship and develop junior staffs, including risk managers and risk analysts in the team.
What do you need to succeed?Must-have
  • Degree in Quantitative, Finance and/or Economics or equivalent is required
  • The role would typically require a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in the financial services industry, preferably within Market Risk
  • Understanding of stress test methodologies and knowledge of valuation models for trading products
  • Strong understanding of global financial markets and trading products.
  • Strong knowledge and practical application in Excel, Python, Tableau, GitHub and Bloomberg
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English for presenting risk assessments and managing discussions with senior management and key stakeholders
  • Analytical work requires significant attention to details.
  • Ability to work as part of a regional and global team. Good team player, result-oriented with strong sense of ownership
Nice-to-have
  • Postgraduate degree such as MBA, MA, MS or equivalent quantitative emphasis in finance, statistics, econometric or other relevant discipline, or professional qualification such as CFA, FRM etc.
  • Industry knowledge and experience to APAC Fixed Income, Developed and Emerging Market Foreign Exchange and/ or Equities Markets, both delta and non-linear risk
  • Understanding of mathematical principles underlying the value of financial products.
  • Other related-treasury or balance sheet experience within a global bank
