We work in the local plant connected to our global manufacturing network to ensure the highest quality of raw materials, intermediates and finished products.Basic Functions and ResponsibilityUnder the direction of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Director, the EHS Associate Director will be responsible for providing technical and regulatory support and implementation of all necessary measures and initiatives required by national regulations pertaining to environment and safety protection at the Singapore site.Provides direction and is responsible for planning, developing and reviewing environmental, safety and industrial hygiene programs for manufacturing, laboratory and facility support.WHAT YOU WILL DOSpecific Objectives Include:Foster an inclusive work environment and promote collaboration between team members and stakeholders.Provide direction and guidance to direct reports; coach and mentor EHS professionals to build leadership, technical and interpersonal skills to improve individual performances.Develop productive working relationships with local authorities, technical and industrial groups as well as consultants to keep abreast of pending requirements and interpretations of existing regulations.Proactively shape the regulatory landscape by skillfully engaging with EHS agencies and external stakeholders, while providing strategic guidance and direction to site operations for seamless adaptation to new regulations to meet requirements, and fostering a culture of sustainable growthDemonstrate strong leadership by setting clear EHS and sustainability expectations for capital project teams, advise to EHS applicable for new projects and processes as well as changes in the existing processes and installation driving a culture of excellence and compliance.Maintain liaison with outside organizations, peer companies and agencies as necessary to assure compliance and communication in the areas of emergency response, mutual aid, regulatory bodies, professional societies, and industrial groups.Support the delivery of corporate EHS & Sustainability goals and collaborate with site operation in the planning and execution of site EHS & Sustainability initiatives.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence others. Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to quickly adjust to changing situations.Oversee site Fire Safety, Environmental, Health & Safety permit applications and regulatory safety and environmental reporting.WHAT YOU MUST HAVEEducation Minimum Requirement:B.S. with preference for Science, Engineering, Environmental Science, Safety, or Industrial HygieneRequired Experience and Skills:Minimum 10 years in environmental protection or safety experience.Evidence of leadership, effective communication and organizational skills required.Preferred Experience and Skills:Demonstrated performance in a highly regulated industry with strict standards adherence and compliance initiatives.Experience managing people, projects and/or teams is desirable.CIH, CSP, PE or other related professional certification.Who we areWe are known as Merck & Co., Inc., Rahway, New Jersey, USA in the United States and Canada and MSD everywhere else.
