[What the role is]

The incumbent will conceptualise, develop and execute plan to create reading recommendations, digital content and library programmes in Tamil language, across the public library network, so as to promote learning, reading and active usage of Mother Tongue language resources.

[What you will be working on]

Content or Resource Development and Enhancement

\xc2\xb7 Develop new content (including articles, book recommendations, reviews, videos, resource kits, reading club packages and resources, etc) in that promote learning, reading and active use of Mother Tongue language resources.

\xc2\xb7 Research, identify and propose new digital engagement opportunities

\xc2\xb7 Review and enhance existing content to ensure that they continue to be relevant and effective in meeting their objectives.

Reading initiative and Programming

\xc2\xb7 Conceptualise, develop and execute reading programming in Tamil language at various public libraries.

\xc2\xb7 Develop and maintain contacts with partners from the Tamil community.

\xc2\xb7 Implement and track end-to-end process of programmes from planning to post-mortem, ensuing that the programmes achieve the agreed targets and outcomes.

\xc2\xb7 Review and work on enhancements to deliver services to target users.

Networking and partnership with community partners

\xc2\xb7 Identify and establish networks with community partners to promote the use of library services and collections.

\xc2\xb7 Plan and execute outreach activities and participate in collaborative outreach programmes.

\xc2\xb7 Review and maintain working relationships with partners and key stakeholders.

\xc2\xb7 Participate in networking and partnership with the Tamil community partners and for Mother Tongue Language as a whole.

Collection Development

\xc2\xb7 Review existing collection and identify collection gaps.

\xc2\xb7 Perform statistical and other analyses on Tamil collection loan data.

\xc2\xb7 Conduct research to review reading and borrowing trends.

[What we are looking for]

• Good command of Tamil language.
• Appreciation of Tamil literary works and a good network with the Tamil community is preferred.
• Skills in interpreting customer/client\xe2\x80\x99s information needs.
• Good command of English communication skills (writing and speaking).
• Required to perform shift work and work on weekends, when necessary.
• Strong team player, good networking skills.
• Meticulous, analytical, able to multi-task in a dynamic environment and manage changing needs.

Work location will be at the Marine Parade Public Library. As the library is currently closed for renovation, the current work location is at the Toa Payoh Public Library.

The incumbent would have to travel to various libraries to conduct programmes and for collection related activities, where required.

Successful applicant will be appointed on a project contract until 31 Dec 2025.
