Qualifications:

Boeing Global Safety and Regulatory Affairs team is currently looking for an early career engineer to join their team in Singapore, working to advance the state of aviation safety while learning to support and strengthen our regulatory partners.

This engineer/project manager will support the Product & Services Safety organization as a liaison with other Boeing teams based on the US as well as Boeing International (Asia-Pacific offices), governmental agencies in multiple countries, and various aviation industry and trade organizations to work on product, service and regulatory issues and policies. The selected candidate will train under more experienced colleagues, learning and growing to be increasingly responsible for developing, maintaining and utilizing personal and organizational relationships with applicable regulatory authorities within Asia-Pacific. The mission of the Boeing Global Safety and Regulatory Affairs team is to achieve success by supporting stakeholder alignment and success. The candidate will also demonstrate the ability to execute strong project management skills, growing to work to independently in order to execute a variety of projects to completion. These projects include monitoring and responding to technical developments including certification, safety, and regulatory issues, including coordinating and developing impact assessments for regulatory policy changes and strategies to address safety concerns or growth targets. In addition, they will grow to eventually develop and execute communication strategies and messaging for a variety of stakeholder groups. Finally, they will eventually represent Boeing on committees and at conferences or events within the region.

This engineering position includes responsibility to employ basic analysis skills utilizing everything from anecdotal operator reports, flight data from our customers as well as regulatory policy impact to Boeing businesses. This candidate will have the opportunity to work together on a team that develops and executes project plans to support or mitigate those impacts. The selected candidate will build relationships across the regulatory landscape and operational stakeholders, and across Boeing teams to coordinate visibility of response to technical and regulatory issues. The candidate will learn to gather, synthesize and provide feedback on business intelligence, regional dynamics and trends regarding regulatory policies in the region.

The selected candidate should have a background in relevant engineering disciplines. The candidate should have a keen interest in learning about aviation regulatory processes and safety processes. Existing background and knowledge of these topics, developed through academic training, internships or entry level job experience is a bonus. The candidate must have a demonstrated record of technical accomplishment, good oral and written communication skills, the ability to handle multiple complex projects simultaneously, and the initiative and leadership to bring tasks to completion. The position will require a significant amount of interaction with people and leadership, including external stakeholders, so excellent people skills and the ability to negotiate and build consensus are required. This position offers the potential to broaden skills and experience across multiple engineering disciplines. The candidate must be willing to stretch beyond their experience base and be willing to take risks to achieve objectives. The job is best suited to an individual who is self-motivated and is able to provide frequent management visibility.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a project manager to execute work statement and tasks on behalf of more senior colleagues while being mentored and developed with the intent to work increasingly independently
  • Ability to develop, maintain and utilize personal and organizational relationships with regulatory authorities within Asia-Pacific in order to support stakeholder alignment and success
  • Learns to monitor and respond to technical developments including certification, safety, and regulatory issues, including coordinating and developing impact assessments for regulatory policy changes
  • Learns to develop integrated plans, and establishes and leads cross-organizational teams to respond to regulatory and policy changes or safety initiatives and to proactively advocate for Boeing strategic objectives
  • Partners with colleagues to develops and executes communication strategies and messaging for a variety of stakeholder groups
  • Gains the experience and confidence to represents Boeing on technical committees and at conferences or events within SE Asia
Basic Qualifications (Required skills/experience):
  • A passion for safety
  • Technical degree (Bachelor or Masters) from an accredited course of study. (A technical degree is defined as any four year degree, or greater, in an engineering, mathematic, scientific or information technology field of study)
  • Ability to work well with diverse and geographically dispersed teams of people
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
  • Written and spoken fluency in English (other languages are a plus)
  • Experience with (or a desire to learn and/or be conversant with) modern project management techniques such as Agile, Scaled Agile, Kanban, or DevOps
  • A keen interest in aviation certification, working with civil aviation regulations, safety processes, or policy development
  • Candidate must be able to travel up to 25% time. Regional travel will be necessary along with occasional travel to the United States if required
  • Self-motivated, able to work under consultative direction, has excellent people skills, and has the ability to negotiate, build consensus, and deliver results
  • An interest in learning to integrate technical impacts and plans across multiple functions or Integrated Product Teams (IPTs)
Desired Qualifications (Preferred Skills & Experience):
  • Demonstrates curiosity, innovation and initiative
  • Existing experience with certification, working with civil aviation regulations, Safety processes, or policy development
  • A graduate level degree (or an interest in pursuing) in an aerospace engineering or business-related field
  • Experience with (or an interest in learning) to perform and/or utilize complex data analysis
  • Demonstrated willingness to stretch beyond their experience base and lead where process definition may not exist or is unclear
  • Experience influencing and building strong relationships with stakeholders and partnerships
