Whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or simply take you in an exciting new direction, HSBC offers opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

HSBC Global Banking and Markets is an emerging markets-led, financing-focused business that provides investment and financial solutions. Through our international network, we connect emerging and mature markets, covering key growth areas. We partner with our corporate, government and institutional clients to help them achieve consistent, long-term performance. Our products and services include advisory, financing, prime services, research and analysis, securities services, trading and sales and transaction banking.

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as an Associate, Wholesale Client Services.

Principal Responsibilities

HSBC Wholesale Client Services

  • The Wholesale Client Services (WCS) team in HSBC is responsible for the full life-cycle of a client\xe2\x80\x99s relationship with HSBC Singapore across the Global Banking and Commercial Banking lines of business. This requires close collaboration with Relationship Managers (RMs), direct interaction with clients, and coordination with other stakeholders within HSBC, thereby enabling RMs to focus on optimizing the potential value of client relationships
  • The client life-cycle includes onboarding for new client entities and products (in-country and/or cross border with other HSBC sites), ongoing client servicing, credit servicing and maintenance, periodic CDD reviews, client/account exits, and providing central point of contact in helping our clients navigate HSBC to address their financial services needs
  • To expand the scope and coverage of the support provided to Global Banking clients and RMs, we are now searching for proactive, collaborative and customer-centric individuals to join our growing team that supports Global Banking. While based in Singapore, this role is an opportunity to interact with customer and colleagues internationally and gain experience in a truly global business
Key Accountabilities
  • Portfolio and RM alignment: WCS Associates are aligned to a specific portfolio of Global Banking clients and their RMs, and responsible for understanding the needs of these clients by working closely with RMs, attending client meetings with RMs as necessary, and acting as the first point of contact for customers on queries or issues. This is a client-facing role where client-centricity is critical
  • Credit: while there are separate dedicated teams who support detailed credit analysis and proposals, the WCS Associate will co-ordinate the end-to-end credit process with clients and internal operations teams to ensure a high quality of service is delivered at all times, including facilitating Credit Applications, Credit Monitoring and Maintenance, and ad hoc General Servicing and Query Management
  • Client Onboarding: the WCS Associate coordinates the onboarding of new clients to HSBC, as well as enabling existing clients to avail new products. This is often time-sensitive and requires direct engagement with clients, as well as close collaboration with internal teams (RMs, product partners, and downstream operations teams) to ensure efficient and effective execution, resolve issues, and meet clients\xe2\x80\x99 requirements
  • Financial Crime Risk Management: the WCS Associate is critical to ensuring HSBC\xe2\x80\x99s adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies. Clients must be assessed through on an ongoing basis (via the onboarding processes, periodic reviews, and assessment of system generated alerts) to ensure they remain in line with HSBC\xe2\x80\x99s reputational and financial crime risk appetite. WCS Associates support the RM in these ongoing assessments in collaboration with other subject matter experts and operational teams within the organization
  • RM support: the WCS Associate supports the RM on other day-to-day activities, with a focus on query and issue management. This entails coordination with a wide set of internal and external stakeholders to add value to RMs and ultimately our clients
  • Leadership: the Associate role is intended to be a more senior member within the team. In addition to managing their own work, Associates are expected to guide more junior team members, act as a point of escalation to solve challenges, and to allocate and prioritize team resources. This may also involve supporting more complex client requests including increased coordination with colleagues in other countries to promote a positive client experience regionally and globally
Requirements
  • Excellent client servicing and problem solving, with a client-centric mindset and motivation to understand the needs of clients, proactively address challenges, and work under pressure
  • Strong communication and inter-personal skills, with an ability to interact with a variety of internal and external stakeholders at various levels of seniority
  • Commercial awareness, understanding the drivers behind onboarding and credit requirements and how these add value to HSBC and our clients. This results in the ability to work independently, manage time, organize and prioritize workload
  • Risk management: familiarity with AML/KYC requirements, credit and financial analysis, and regulatory environments are highly beneficial
  • The WCS Associate role is intended for applicants with 5+ years of work experience, with a preference for direct experience in servicing, KYC or onboarding within the financial services sector. For candidates with indirect or less extensive work experience (potentially including new graduates with related education), we are also recruiting for WCS Analysts who can exemplify the above skills through transferable experience
To be considered for this role, the relevant rights to work in Singapore is required.
