Role purpose To support the smart manufacturing program at manufacturing site, we establish Syngenta Manufacturing Automation & Robotic Transformation (SMART) laboratory. It aims to develop an environmentally suitable lab to pilot and identify the best configuration of viable novel technology for the formulation, filling and packing (FF&P) process i.e., industrial equipment, instrumentation, modular robots & digital tools. The Regional Automation Engineer contributes to the development and implementation of automation systems and to support the processing of formulation and filling packing. This individual will be required to drive smart manufacturing initiatives with external manufacturing partner for digitized/smart factory with both data analytics, IoT and integrated hardware automation. Principal responsibilities of this position include programming and handling robots, building support with end-users, and coordinating with cross-functional teams developing and integrating the automation systems and related software tools, preparing the documentation for equipment validation and operating procedures, and ensuring successful implementation from lab to factory. Additional responsibilities are user training, troubleshooting, optimizing the workflows, and ongoing support for the end-users. Accountabilities Support the Smart lab set up in Singapore. Develop actionable plans and execute for clear value cases and cooperate closely with IT, Engineering, Industrialization, manufacturing leaders, and external partners, Support the deployment of Smart manufacturing roadmap in FF&P site Drive digital transformation roadmap with digitalization use cases, IT Infrastructure, Data connectivity, leveraging technologies like smart / flexible automation, paperless manufacturing, BI tools, AR / VR, Big data analytics. Develop an in-depth knowledge of the engineering requirements for smart manufacturing engineering solutions available for use across Syngenta. Collaborate with people from top management floor to the shop floor in order to win their engagement and commitment to transforming the culture of I4.0 technologies like Robotics, IoT, Data Analytics & AI, Smart Processing, and AR/VR. Organize & conduct training/seminar as part of our team effort towards digital transformation and enhancement of factory activity. Knowledge, Experience & Capabilities Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field will be appropriate. Diploma with extensive experience may be considered. 3-5 years' experience in factory enhancement activities and digital transformation. Able to understand product development process, manufacturing process, digital transformation (including understanding of Big Data Analytics, AI etc.) Good IT knowledge and experience in OT environment (manufacturing). Individuals with experience of programming languages like Python, Java, C++, or SQL will be an added advantage. The automation engineer should have experience working on Digital Transformation projects in the Factory / Manufacturing setting and some of the key application areas including: MES/ IT-OT/ Edge/ Cloud/ PLC Scada solutions Architecture, solution design, and development IT-OT integrations including Industrial Connectors such as Kepware, Tellit DeviceWise, OSI PI OT protocols not limited to Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, IEC 104 IoT protocols not limited to MQTT, AMQP, CoAP Network experience including DNS, DHCP, Firewall, Gateways, Routers Application development and integration experience using Java, Python, or Unix languages Data (blockchain, big data, data sciences) Simulation (digital factory, digital twin) Automation (Robots, AGV, RFID, Vision camera, AS/RS) ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Syngenta is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate in recruitment, hiring, training, promotion or any other employment practices for reasons of race, colour, religion, gender, national origin, age, sexual orientation, marital or veteran status, disability, or any other legally protected status.
