Group Technology and Operations (T&O) enables and empowers the bank with an efficient, nimble and resilient infrastructure through a strategic focus on productivity, quality & control, technology, people capability and innovation. In Group T&O, we manage the majority of the Bank\'s operational processes and inspire to delight our business partners through our multiple banking delivery channels.

Responsibilities

The role will be primarily focused on overseeing the database administration functions which includes database installation, planning, design, implementation, backup, maintenance and optimization of PostgreSQL and EDB PostgreSQL. The candidate should be a subject matter expert in supporting PostgreSQL, EDB PostgreSQL and EDB ecosystem tools.

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in PostgreSQL/EDB PostgreSQL database management.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in PostgreSQL database administration.
• Minimum 7 yesrs of experience in EDB PostgreSQL and EDB ecosystem tools such as EFM,MTK,BARMAN and PEM.
• Good knowledge in PostgreSQL core components and concepts.
• In depth knowledge in SQL and Query tuning.
• Proficient in writing and optimizing SQL statements.
• Modarate knowledge of Linux operating system (RedHat) and Linux commands.
• Proficient writing Linux shell scripts for maintenance and automation purposes.
• Experience in setting up replication.
• Experience in preparing documentations and specifications.
• Profile server resource usage, optimize and tweak as necessary.
• Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders.
• Knowledge of de-facto standards and best practices in PostgreSQL.
• Ability to review recommendations on architecture/design decisions that will ensure optimal application performance with PostgreSQL.
• Knowledge of limitations in PostgreSQL and their workarounds in contrast to other popular relational databases.
• Position requires the ability to work various work schedules that support a 24x7 coverage may include nights, weekends and holidays.
• Familiarity with other databases such as MariaDB, MySQL or Oracle will be an added advantage.
• Willingness to learn and teach back.
• Should be a good team player.
