Overview of Division/Department

Our Anti-Money Laundering(AMLD), a member of our Singapore General Admin Department, is responsible to be the second line of defence to manage money laundering/terrorism financing risks of the branch. AMLD is required to identify and manage the mentioned risks when transactions are being processed or when applications, products, systems and technologies are being adopted.

Job Responsibilities

  • Monitor Branch adherence to the Bank\'s AML/CFT & sanctions framework and relevant procedures
  • Communicate and provide advisory to Bank staff on the Bank\'s AML/CFT & sanctions framework and relevant procedures
  • Keep abreast with AML/CFT & sanctions regulations, regulatory expectations and industry practices
  • Review realtime filtering hits escalated by Operations
  • Sample testing (quality assurance) of realtime filtering inputs and hits cleared by Operations
  • Perform routine tasks in the Sanctions advisory & Filtering team, including prompt and accurate update of monitoring lists in filtering systems, and preparing reports
  • Participate in IT projects that have impact on transaction filtering from second line of defence POV, and other ad-hoc projects relating to AML/CFT & sanctions and transaction filtering matters
  • Assist team lead and provide guidance to junior team members on tasks and projects
  • Participate in audits, follow up on AML/CFT & sanctions relevant audit findings and their rectification
  • Conduct AML/CFT & sanctions related trainings and promote a sound compliance culture in the Bank
  • Prepare suspicious transactions reports and provide responses to requests by regulatory authorities
  • Ensure internal operation procedures are kept up to date
  • Perform section administrative duties and other tasks as assigned
Expected Competency
Functional Expertise
  • Able to review and prepare suspicious transactions reports and provide insights to management in a timely manner.
  • Able to make sound recommendation to work around issues, and be able to arrive at the best outcome in relation to risk-benefit analysis
  • Ensure AML/CFT policies and procedures are up-to-date and if required, propose new processes or criteria to increase efficiency or productivity.
  • Where applicable, escalation of cases to SH when there are potential AML concerns.
  • Assess on-going risk profiles of clients via review of information and factors of warning signs gathered by junior staff
Business Acumen
  • Able to review accounts which are flagged to be potential high risk for ML/TF to be closed and make the appropriate recommendation.
  • Able to extract from ABS, MAS HO and circulars when they relate to AML/CFT/Sanctions and disseminate the information accordingly. Evaluate and give insights on how to deal with new rule/regulation and reporting, as well as any impact on existing process and parameters. and be able to provide advice to teams of the said impact and any solutions if applicable.
  • Keep abreast with industry practices, advice and provide training on AML/CFT sanctions/tax risk and encourage collaboration with counterparts in the bank.
Communication Skills /Relationship Management
  • Drive awareness of onboarding process flows with relevant stakeholders
  • Explain policy changes to other business units based on industry trends and legislative changes

  • Able to lead and implement system enhancements of AML systems.
  • Ability to understand and apply more complex models in relation to advanced analytics.
  • Ability to engage in Data Storytelling by conveying key messages and findings from investigation in a clear and compelling and easy-to-understand manner for relevant stakeholders to take action

Job Requirements
  • A Bachelor Degree with at least 5 years of AML/Sanctions advisory experience and at corporate/commercial bank.
