The Basketball Instructor shall design and implement a
structured, progressive, and developmentally appropriate training programme
to develop students' basketball knowledge, skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The instructor is expected to work closely with the Teacher-in-Charge to ensure alignment with the school's vision, values, and CCA objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
Programme Design and Delivery
Plan and conduct weekly basketball training sessions aligned with the students' developmental stages and skill levels.
Develop training plans that progressively build competencies in ball handling, passing, shooting, defense, and game strategies.
Incorporate values education, teamwork, and leadership components into the sessions.
Differentiate instruction for beginner, intermediate, and advanced players.
Competition and Performance Preparation
Prepare students for internal and external competitions such as the
National School Games (NSG)
and friendly matches.
Organize internal mini-tournaments, assessment games, or showcase sessions.
Conduct team selection trials, player evaluations, and performance assessments fairly and transparently.
Collaboration and Communication
Liaise with the Teacher-in-Charge on training progress, student development, attendance, and discipline.
Provide regular feedback on students' performance and areas for improvement.
Assist in coordinating logistics for matches, competitions, and events (e.g. transport, equipment, uniforms).
Values and Character Development
Reinforce sportsmanship, integrity, teamwork, discipline, and respect throughout training.
Cultivate resilience and a growth mindset in players through structured reflection and feedback.
Serve as a role model in conduct, punctuality, and professionalism.
Administrative and Safety Responsibilities
Submit detailed training plans, attendance records, and evaluation reports as required by the school.
Ensure students' safety during training through adherence to MOE's Safety Guidelines for Physical Activities.
Conduct equipment checks and report damages or risks promptly.
Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum
3 years of experience
coaching basketball at school or club level.
Possess at least one of the following certifications:
Singapore Basketball Association (BAS) Level 1 or 2 Coaching Certificate
, or equivalent recognised certification.
MOE-approved NCAP Level 1 (Technical)
and
Standard First Aid with AED Certification
. Demonstrated experience in training school teams for
National School Games (NSG)
or equivalent competitions preferred.
Strong knowledge of basketball rules, techniques, and team strategies.
Effective communication, classroom management, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to motivate and instil positive values and discipline among students.
Must be punctual, responsible, and able to work collaboratively with school staff.
Additional Expectations:
Willing to conduct extra sessions during school holidays, competitions, or make-up days with advance notice.
Prepared to adjust training schedules and plans based on school feedback.
