The Business System / Data Analyst & Development role is responsible for analyzing business processes, designing system solutions, and developing data-driven tools to support organizational growth. This role bridges business operations with IT development, ensuring that systems are efficient, integrated, and aligned with company goals. The incumbent will play a key part in transforming business practices into data-driven decision-making, driving process automation, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
This role also works closely with the Finance Manager to ensure that all business units operate within approved budgets, maintain minimum and maximum inventory thresholds, and manage cost centres effectively, based on data-driven corporate decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Business Systems Analysis & Design
Gather and analyze user requirements across departments (Finance, Sales, Operations, HR, Warehouse).
Evaluate existing workflows and identify areas for process improvement, automation, and system integration.
Design system specifications, workflows, and data structures to support business needs.
Collaborate with vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation of ERP, CRM, POS, HRM, and API integrations.
Data Analytics & Reporting
Develop dashboards, reports, and business intelligence tools to support performance monitoring and KPI tracking.
Conduct deep-dive data analysis to provide insights on sales, finance, customer behavior, and inventory.
Standardize data definitions and ensure data accuracy, consistency, and compliance across all systems.
Financial & Budgetary Control (in collaboration with Finance Manager)
Monitor and ensure all business units operate within approved budgets.
Track and analyze minimum and maximum allowance levels for inventory and other cost centres.
Provide data-driven insights to support cost optimization, procurement planning, and inventory management.
Support financial forecasting and variance analysis by aligning operational performance with corporate strategy.
System Development & Implementation
Assist in system configuration, testing, and deployment of new modules and features.
Work with developers to build and enhance APIs (e.g., payment gateways, e-commerce platforms like Shopee/Lazada, websites).
Create and maintain system documentation, SOPs, and user manuals tailored to company processes.
Project Management & Continuous Improvement
Lead or support digital transformation and ERP implementation projects.
Coordinate cross-departmental change management and training sessions.
Track project milestones, risks, and deliverables, ensuring timely completion.
Recommend emerging tools/technologies to improve efficiency and business insights.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Finance, or related field.
At least 3-5 years of experience in systems analysis, data analytics, or ERP/CRM/POS development.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
Proficiency in SQL, Excel, BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau), and ERP/CRM systems.
Experience in API integration, data migration, and workflow automation is preferred.
Familiarity with
budgeting, inventory control, and cost centre management
is an advantage.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
