Details of the Division and Team: DB Legal is an independent infrastructure function mandated to provide legal advice to, inter alia all business divisions and infrastructure functions of DB Group and to manage legal risks. The mission of the Legal Department is to provide pragmatic and best in class legal and governance services and advice to DB Group, ensure that DB Group is anchored on a set of robust governance rules, effectively manage legal, governance and data privacy risks, and hence protect the integrity and reputation of DB Group. The full-time hire will join the APAC TIS Team which is part of the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s APAC Legal department. The hire will support the infrastructure businesses of DB in APAC, with a focus on IT and Data Privacy legal issues involving the Bank as well as third party vendors engaged by the Bank. In addition, the hire will have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues in other regions on global projects.

Your key responsibilities: This role may be offered to the selected candidate as Vice-President or Director depending on the experience and qualification of the selected candidate at the sole discretion of the hiring manager.
  • Advise Deutsche Bank\xe2\x80\x99s infrastructure and front office divisions across 14 jurisdictions in APAC, with a focus on technology, data, innovation, operations, and procurement, in relation to legal topics and issues, in the areas of technology and outsourcing (VRM/IGSA), corresponding regulation, innovation, data protection, intellectual property, contracting and tort.
  • Provide strategic advice and support in major technology-related initiatives globally with focus on APAC, including technology and/or operations outsourcings (internally and externally) and software transactions.
  • Manage legal, regulatory, and reputational risk in technology and technology-driven transactions, in implementation of new technologies (like digitalization, big data, FinTech, mobile and digital banking, cloud computing, digital assets, blockchain solutions, etc.).
  • Support regulatory engagements, and implementation of regulatory initiatives globally, with focus on APAC.
  • Working in close collaboration with Legal and other teams (such as Compliance, Data Protection, Procurement and AFC) across the bank, globally.
  • Proactively manage external legal counsel and legal expenditure.
  • Act as a point of reference for bank-policy driven issues and around vendor and technology risk management policies and procedures
  • Representing Legal in various internal forums and responsible for regular stakeholder engagement
Your skills and experience: For Director Role:- People Management Responsibilities Role includes responsibility for managing Legal TIS APAC and Group Data Privacy (GDP) APAC teams
  • Create and reinforce an environment where people management and development is a key priority, and personally demonstrate commitment to the immediate and the wider team. Act as leadership role model for own and the wider team, and manage direct/functional reports, through empowering them to deliver on their objectives, providing coaching and support to enable them to be successful.
  • Communicate the Bank/Division\xe2\x80\x99s strategy, plans and values within the team, ensuring implementation and alignment in own area of responsibility, and drive a high-performance culture.
Qualification
  • Qualified Common Law jurisdiction or German lawyer with at least 12 to 15 years PQE.
  • Experience in information technology, intellectual property law, outsourcing, data privacy laws in a global financial institution is a pre-requisite.
  • Business fluent English including contract drafting and negotiations.
  • Excellent experience of negotiating and contract law and intimate knowledge of how banks operate.
Skills & Experience
  • Experienced team leader used to managing a globally integrated team across borders.
  • A knowledge of structuring outsourcing transactions and the issues faced by a global systemically important financial institution during the setup and lifecycle of such transactions, including experience with multi-national contract rollouts and the application of local requirements.
  • An understanding of the EU regulatory environment for global outsourcing/tech transactions for a Germany-based bank under EU supervision (e.g. BaFin MaRisk, EBA Outsourcing Guidelines, Digital Operational Resilience Act).
  • Experience in Vendor Risk Management, and how to navigate technology transactions.
  • Experience in the field of financial services, information technology and/or data protection (ideally including knowledge of the EU data protection environment/GDPR).
  • Management skills for project management support and as well as cooperation with external counsel.
  • Excellent communication skills, vast creativity and capability to \xe2\x80\x9cthink out of the box\xe2\x80\x9c within a regulated environment at a global scale.
  • Willingness to learn new areas of competence and an interest to understand and experience new technologies and processes and their legal implementation.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage large workloads in a small team.
  • Global perspective on projects while working with colleagues from other locations and jurisdictions.
For Vice-President Role:- Qualification
