Overview
As a Marine Cargo Claims Handler, you will be responsible for managing and resolving claims related to marine cargo losses and damages.
You will collaborate with insurers, clients, and third-party service providers to ensure claims are processed efficiently and in compliance with claims policies and industry standards.
How you'll make an impact
Oversee the entire lifecycle of cargo claims, from receipt of first advice to final settlement.
Investigate, assess, and resolve marine cargo claims in a timely manner, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
Communicate effectively with clients to gather necessary information, provide updates, and offer coverage opinions to insurers and clients.
Analyse and verify all relevant documentation, including bills of lading, insurance policies, survey reports, and correspondence related to the claim.
Conduct thorough investigations of loss incidents and appoint surveyors, if necessary, to determine the cause and extent of damage.
Liaise with insurers, legal teams, and external stakeholders to facilitate efficient claim resolutions.
Prepare detailed reports and claims summaries, ensuring accurate documentation and record-keeping for audit purposes.
Stay informed about changes in marine insurance regulations and practices to ensure adherence to legal and industry standards.
About you
Direct claims experience, with a strong background in marine cargo preferred.
Knowledge of marine insurance principles and practices.
Strong focus on accuracy and thoroughness in all aspects of claims processing and documentation.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities to independently handle your own claims file.
