DESIGNATION : Centre Director (3-year contract), Office of Overseas Centre

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Represent SMU in Indonesia as the Chief Representative of the University at meetings, events and official engagements
• Deliver revenue and operational targets assigned to the overseas centre in Jakarta (OCJ)
• Support SMU and its stakeholders in building and enhancing their presence and branding in the Indonesian market
• Navigate through regulatory frameworks and business norms to establish strategic contacts with relevant local counterparts
• Identify opportunities to strengthen the good name of SMU in Indonesia, in alignment with the University’s stakeholders’ marketing and branding strategies
• Identify new partnership opportunities with industry and government agencies, in collaboration and alignment with OOC and its stakeholders from SOCIs (Schools, Offices, Centres and Institutes), to help grow the University’s external revenue wings
• Support delivery of programmes in Indonesia and Singapore
• Analyse the local industry challenges, local government agenda and initiatives so as to inform strategic decision-making at the OOC and the University
• Provide timely market intelligence reports on subjects pertinent to the Singapore-Indonesia corridor and the University’s areas of interest
• Support regular reporting to the University’s senior management on Overseas Centre’s financial and operational performances
• Management report will include updates, analysis, recommendations, project expectations, roadmaps, key deliverables and quantifiable goals
• Undertake OCJ operational audit, identify and resolve service gaps, and implement resourcing plans to troubleshoot
• Responsible for ensuring legal and operational compliance of OCJ

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s degree preferred
• Minimum 8 to 10 years of relevant work experience required
• Must be fluent in English with working knowledge in Bahasa Indonesia
• Held leadership roles in general management
• Proven track record in business development and marketing in Jakarta, Indonesia
• Experienced in cross-cultural management, leading, and working within a matrixed organisation
• Consultative and accessible leadership style, outstanding written and oral communications skills, and integrity
• Able to gain credibility and trust with multiple layers of complex organizations from the University to corporations and vice-versa
• Able to interact in a professional and positive manner with all levels of staff and work partners
• Able to stimulate and develop new project ideas in partnership with other SMU colleagues and external work partners
• Excellent understanding of how to communicate with different audiences ranging from C-Suites, Academics, Administrators, Students and Strategic Stakeholders, preferably in both Singapore and Indonesia
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and social media savvy
• Position is based in Jakarta Indonesia
