Wealth and Personal Banking has four key business areas responsible for efficiently bringing the best of HSBC to our clients through a broad and relevant suite of wealth and retail banking capabilities: Asset Management, Global Private Banking & Wealth, HSBC Life, Retail Banking & Strategy and COO & Digital Transformation.We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as a Chief Distribution Officer, HSBC Life Singapore.The role holder will be a member of the HSBC Life Singapore Executive Committee, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer.Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow the multiple distribution channels of HSBC Life Singapore, including tied agency, bancassurance, financial advisory partners, SingPost partnership, HNW channels and digital distribution
  • This entails developing a high-quality agency channel (encompassing recruitment, training, productivity enhancement, sales management, compensation, incentives and recognition and retention), building an integrated bancassurance model (increasing insurance penetration within the existing HSBC retail and private banking client base), creating a best-in-class HNW distribution model and developing win-win partnerships with strategic partners (FAs, brokers, third party banks)
  • Drive growth with high quality and conduct standards. Deliver a balanced product mix that meets customer needs across their various life stages
  • Build best in class training and high-quality financial advice platform for our clients, delivered through our multiple channels
  • Act as a key member of HSBC Life Singapore EXCO leadership team to ensure that Distribution perspective is appropriately presented in the decision-making process
  • Ensure alignment with Group and Wealth strategic direction and growth initiatives, and drive implementation of the overall distribution strategy
  • Develop and enhance sales processes and platforms that meet regulatory and internal compliance standards and improve customer experience and ensure robust governance
  • Develop sound and effective distribution support and business development initiatives to drive performance among all channels, including rolling out customer incentives and campaigns
  • Work closely with Data and Analytics and Customer Proposition teams to identify potential growth opportunities across channels
  • Support with implementation of conventions, events, marketing plans (conventions / event proposals, collaterals design, working closely with customer propositions and marketing teams)
  • Represent HSBC Life Singapore in relevant Group governance forums
  • Manage overall agency compensation and quarterly variable incentive programs for salaried front-line staff
  • Drive collaboration initiatives with other lines of business across HSBC
  • Support the development of the annual operating plans, ensuring detailed interlocks between channels, product, and COO teams, as well as distribution partners
  • Coach, develop, manage and mentor a high-performance team
RequirementsRequirements
  • Dynamic leader, with extensive leadership experience at the Executive level with a strong ability to innovate and find solutions.
  • Proven track record and experience of managing a P&L.
  • Deep understanding of the Singapore insurance landscape and distribution channels including agency, bancassurance and FA channels.
  • Prior experience of managing a large scale tied agency model.
  • Ability to navigate a matrix organisation and operate with pace to deliver results in an integration/transformation environment.
  • Progressive leadership and communication skills, ability to lead change, influence and actively drive strong performance. Strong people manager, with the ability to galvanize and motivate large sales and non-sales staff to deliver business objectives.
  • Proven track record of scaling-up frontline teams, while maintaining high standards of productivity, conduct and quality.
  • Excellent communication, especially written skills and influencing skills.
  • Self-motivated, driven to succeed and experience in leading high performing teams.
  • High level of personal integrity and values in line with HSBC core values.
