Compliance Surveillance team:

The Asia Pacific Regional Compliance Department is seeking a high calibre individual to join our Compliance Surveillance team. Reporting to the Surveillance Manager in Hong Kong, the candidate, utilizing the surveillance tools, will be responsible for conducting trade surveillance across various Lines of Business (LOB). The candidate will be empowered (within the boundaries of a case officer) to exercise sound business judgments and take ownership to ensure his/her cases are adequately managed in accordance with the operational level of agreement. The role also offers the candidate excellent opportunities to forge professional relationships with various stakeholders and further develop their knowledge on various products such as Equities, Futures & Options, Fixed Income, Commodities, FX offered by JPMorgan Chase. The surveillance service footprint in Asia Pacific includes, but not limited to Australia, Hong Kong, India, Japan and Singapore.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Providing surveillance coverage for APAC equities markets and the Information Barrier program.
  • Reviewing surveillance output and conducting surveillance analysis of trading and market activity, with a focus on equities and equity derivatives for detecting potential market misconduct.
  • Conducting reviews and analysis to support regulatory exams and inquiries and other requests.
  • Working with global surveillance and technology stakeholders on new and enhanced surveillances - including defining requirements, conducting analysis and UAT testing, and implementing related processes and procedures.
  • Performing ad-hoc reviews of trading activity by analysing complex trading data and identifying high risk behaviours.
  • Escalating any unusual or suspicious cases during alert reviews to the relevant LOB / Country Compliance officers and/or other counterparties in accordance with the defined operational process.
  • Effectively partner with global/regional Surveillance teams in promoting our global program and its responsibilities

What skills and experiences we are looking for:
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Law, Business Administration, Finance or related disciplines.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in surveillance/advisory of Equities and FnO products, preferably from a bank, broker-dealer, or regulator.
  • Strong knowledge of various Asian Equity markets and their rules and key regulations.
  • Proven expertise using SMARTs and Actimize as well as a good working level knowledge of IRESS, Bloomberg or Reuters.
  • Ability to multi task and able to adjust effectively to changing priorities.
  • A desire to learn and the ability to clearly communicate issues with Compliance and business colleagues.
  • Adaptability to work under time pressure and resiliency to provide stable and consistent performance.
  • Excellent communications skills (oral and written).
