The candidate will be expected to work with colleagues at the IACUC Officer to provide compliance and administrative support to the IACUC in facilitating its functions in the oversight of NUS animal care and use programme.
This will include:
1. Facilitating the process for IACUC review of animal use protocols including preliminary review of protocols and correspondence with researchers on IACUC requirements;
2. Assisting IACUC in ensuring compliance with the regulations and guidelines on the use of animals for scientific purposes by researchers by actively participating in monitoring such as Post-Approval Monitoring (PAM) and others;
3. Facilitating IACUC functions such as annual program review, inspections of animal care and use facilities, including central and satellite vivaria, and all other premises where live animals are used for scientific purposes;
4. Assisting IACUC in drafting and reviewing its policies, guidelines, SOPs and any other documents on animal care & use;
5. Performing administrative functions at the IACUC Office e.g. produce monthly (at a minimum) IACUC meeting minutes, co-ordinate meetings, liaise with external agencies, updating IACUC software platform and database, compiling data for IACUC etc;
6. Addressing feedback from stakeholders about IACUC\'s operations and work to resolve them; and
7. Any other IACUC Office duties received from IACUC Chair and Head, IACUC Office.
Qualifications
The candidate should have at least a least a BSc honours degree in biology or BVetSc, or similar degree in life sciences, veterinary science or medicine. Ideally, the candidate should (a) be a good communicator with a higher degree in biomedical sciences with focus on animal research, (b) have experience in writing IACUC protocols and (c) be experienced in teaching and preparation of teaching materials.
