Job Description

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
We are seeking a Lawyer with experience in international arbitration and construction disputes to join our growing office in Singapore, working directly with the Partner on a range of construction matters, both contentious and non-contentious, as well as international arbitration cases.
The role will involve advising clients on complex international construction matters, from contract negotiation and project execution to claims and resolution strategies. You will also have the opportunity to manage and act on international arbitration matters seated in Singapore and across the wider Asia-Pacific region, working on high-profile disputes involving major infrastructure, energy, and construction projects.
THE TEAM

  • Based in Singapore, our office acts as a central hub for Addleshaw Goddard's Asia-Pacific operations.
  • Our team delivers legal services across a range of sectors, including construction, energy, infrastructure, financial services, and technology.
  • The office advises both international clients operating in Asia and Asian clients with global interests.
  • The Singapore office is ideally positioned to advise on cross-border transactions and regional projects, offering specialist expertise in corporate, commercial, dispute resolution, and regulatory matters.
WHAT TO EXPECT IN THIS ROLE
  • Work directly with the Partner on a broad range of construction matters, both contentious and non-contentious.
  • Advise clients on complex international construction projects, covering all stages of the project lifecycle - from contract negotiation and project execution to claims management and dispute resolution.
  • Act on high-value international arbitration matters seated in Singapore and across the wider Asia-Pacific region, including disputes in the infrastructure, energy, and construction sectors.
  • Support clients in dispute avoidance and risk management, providing strategic advice to mitigate potential project issues before they escalate.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across Addleshaw Goddard's global network, gaining exposure to cross-border disputes and international clients.
YOUR AREAS OF KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE
  • Qualified lawyer with a minimum of 2+ years' post-qualification experience (PQE), ideally as a construction and engineering specialist within an international law firm.
  • Solid experience in construction disputes and international arbitration, including acting for clients in onshore and offshore projects and across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Exposure to infrastructure, energy, and large-scale project work, with an understanding of both contentious and non-contentious matters.
  • Strong ability to support and coordinate complex matters, collaborating effectively with fee earners across other disciplines and offices.
  • Willingness to contribute to the growth and development of the group, including supporting training, maintaining precedents, and enhancing internal know-how.
  • Demonstrated commitment to delivering exceptional client service and maintaining trusted relationships with clients at all levels.
